Is it common around here for people to sleep for inordinate amounts of time? He usually conks out for at least 6 hours a night, but it's getting on 2 days now with no signs of him getting out of bed.

Please don't tell me somebody has to kiss him. Not unless you're willing to volunteer.

Well, not that I know of. But it does happen, and things usually happen for a reason.

Everything happens for a reason. The universe is rarely so random.

On it's own, yes. But elements of randomness can still be introduced. Albeit not usually in the case of things happening.

And not when there are patterns present.

Exactly! Patterns and random chance never really go together well, in the end.
