[The feed shows Castle laying on his bed, looking half-asleep or maybe just bored. He could probably be doing something productive, something that could benefit the war effort in some way, but would rather ask the population at large a question.]

Well, I'm fond of plays more than novels, myself.

I like plays too, though don't read many of them for pleasure. It's harder to do that with a play, I feel.

So what plays do you like, then?

Well, my home might insist I mention Molière, French playwright that he was. Shakespeare is always something I've wanted to do.

[To be an actress in such a role. To be Lady Macbeth or Cleopatra. No singing, perhaps, but an actress nonetheless... Women of power and a role adored. Or even to be an opera...]

There's not much comparison to Shakespeare. I think I've read most of what he's written. Haven't read much Molière beside Le Misanthrope. Do you prefer Shakespeare's comedies or tragedies?

You might want to invest in Tartuffe, a satire on nobility and religious figures.

Well, I've seen enough tragedy that I need a laugh, comedies for me, though his tragedies have the better monologues.

Because you find that intriguing?

My favorite comedy is "Much Ado About Nothing". Beatrice and Bendick's bickering is gold.

[And not at all unlike his actual love life.]

I find a good deal intriguing, catching my interest is something harder than most think.

Well well, it would seem we've like minds, though I'm just as fond as Twelfth Night. Nothing quite as entertaining as a love triangle.

Or cross-dressing women. Did you ever notice how much cross-dressing goes on in Shakespeare's plays? And none of the characters seem to be able to tell that the person is cross-dressing.

Maybe our dear Shakespeare had a bit of a habit he couldn't tell us about. Or more likely, was how women weren't allowed on stage back then.

Isn't that just a shame? Placing a young boy in a woman's role, calling a woman on stage indecent. They never met me, of course.

Yeah, so it was basically a man, playing a woman, who was playing a man. Seems overly complicated if you ask me. Besides, I'd rather watch a woman be a woman in a play than some dude. Much more aesthetically appealing.

Are you an actress?

[She's certainly pretty enough to be one.]

Yes, I am. In Paris, France.

Interesting. My mother and ex-wife are both actresses. My mother works out of New York and Meredith is mostly out of Los Angeles.

[And they both have red hair too. Is this a conspiracy?]

A theater child, then you and I have a good deal in common.

Ex-wife? [Satine has encountered enough divorcees that she thinks nothing of it. Besides, she was in the business or being a mistress, a courtesan. She was partly the cause of so many divorces.]

What happened?

Yeah, I basically grew up backstage. [Since there was no one else to watch him and Martha couldn't exactly afford child care.]

[He shrugs at the mention of his ex.] She wasn't ready to be married and take care of a child. And she was too much like my mother, so it was doomed from the start.

And I grew up on it. We should share stories, darling.

Never married, never intend to. [Love was a game. She wasn't the marrying type, more the mistress than anything else.] But you've a child? And you raised her? [That's practically unheard of in her time, she smiles.]

Yes. Pretty much by myself, though mother helped.

[He's pretty proud of himself for that fact, especially given how amazing Alexis turned out. Castle almost feels he can't take credit for it entirely, like Alexis was just magically born mature and well-behaved.]

I'll be on marriage three when Kate and I finally tie the knot. Having said that, I don't blame you for wanting to avoid it.

Congratulations are in order. Your Kate a lady of the theater as well?

Thank you. She's a police officer actually.

[He grins.]

Yes, my days with women in the industry are over. Kate is my muse, however. She inspired a character who's been the star of a very successful book series.

Your muse? She must be quite the woman to be graced with such a title. What is she like, this muse of yours?

Well, she's beautiful of course, but she's tough as nails too. She's funny.. doesn't let me get away with anything. And she's complicated. I like to compare her to an onion, even if that's not very romantic, because she has so many layers.

Darling, all women are complicated. [He was married twice before and he didn't realize that? She smiled though.] Well, I wish you all the best, certainly. And if you want to go for something romantic that isn't an onion, perhaps a rose?

[He did know that, though Kate in particular was challenging. She'd had a rough life.]

That is a bit more poetic, yes. The many layers of the Beckett rose.

Just don't go borrowing Shakespeare's sonnets.

Oh trust me, she'd call me out on that right away.

I should hope any girl does. Until then, darling.
