[One of these days, Samantha meant to do one of these addresses somewhere outside of her lab. But, at this point, it had become a security blanket. Part of her was just used to doing something with her hands, and right then she was going over a series of notes she'd acquired from Sophie. A beaker was bubbling, and there was something dark green in it. In the background a stone humanoid shape could be seen.]

Some of you know Draco and Castiel aren't with us anymore. Since they and Euri disappeared, Asclepius is still open, though I'm going to leave to Sophie any announcements she's got on how things will be running over there. But, in the meantime, Pinch of Sage is going to be one of the only potions shops in town. There's still apothecaries among the natives... but at the same time I seem to have inherited several new recipes. Sleeping draughts are still pretty popular, go fig. If you used to buy something from one of those shops, I can probably make it now, but stocks are getting limited. I've rebuilt my greenhouse two times since I got here, and I've had it reinforced, so I can grow a few of the magical herbs, but my stock from Utgard's almost dry, so I can only make what I can grow or get from Alfheim.

Oh... and since we're all getting back on our feet from having this place remind us how close we are to the final battles... take what the Doctor says to heart. [Her eyes hardened and she frowned.] This isn't over until you're dead. I'll keep brewing this crap to help you guys until the bitter end, and I'm not one to give up even when I should. I am going to stand over that cold-hearted witch's ashes and laugh before they ship us home. Mark my words.

Not that it works here, of course. Too high tech, I suppose. Psychic paper. Shows people what I want them to see. I can be whatever I like with this. Anything that doesn't get me in trouble.

Hah! I like that trick. I usually go for illusions, but it's the same idea. Make them decide you're not important enough to try and kill. [She sounded legitimately amused by the notion of 'psychic paper.'] It's like the con-man who pulls out a badge and flips it open and closed before the cops can see what it really said.

I do that too, a bit. Best not let them look too closely.

When you aren't really a citizen of any country, you get the same idea after a while. It's just easier if they aren't looking too closely. The horns don't hurt on the 'not closely' thing either.

No, I hear you. I'm lucky enough that I at least look human, so as long as they don't carry around portable x-ray machines I'm usually fine.

Fair enough. I'm not that good at biology anyway. Better at botany. I suppose they'd have trouble missing two hearts with something like that to look into your body. Thankfully there's not many with X-ray vision.

No. In fact, I don't think I've ever run into anyone with X-ray vision.

I think someone back home claimed to have it. All sorts of weird combinations of powers. You'd think the people using magic would be the odd ones. Nooo, no sir. We were almost normal. Just rare.

And the people who don't use magic? Some sort of physical powers?

Varied. Knew a guy who had his arms and legs replaced with robotic parts, used a blade of light. There was another guy about twice as big as me who was incredibly strong and hard to hurt, had these ugly bones growing out of him like spikes. Another girl I knew was able to run at the speed of sound.

It was really varied. If you knew Pyro, his world was a lot like that.

Oh, yeah. I knew Pyro.

He replaced his arms and legs willingly?

No, this wasn't willing. [She had a slightly sober look in her eyes.] He had a few issues, mostly over those surgeries, but he was good in a fight... and a few other things. And, good. I don't think I have to explain the kind of world too much then.

I said as much in the past. He had a fairly good sense of humor about it, as long as the cause wasn't staring him in the face. Real problem with authority though.

I don't like authority either.

That makes three of us. We had plenty to joke about when we were working together. We joked together over not liking orders.
