[Sitting at a small desk in her room at the welcome hall, Claire has tons of paper with her bubbly cursive writing etched all over it. She's found the library and has a small stack of books piled up on the desk as well. She's not usually the studying type, but something's caught her attention today and she needs some help figuring things out.]

I've got a few questions about powers. I know there's guides on the bracelets or whatever, but I want to hear what other people have to say.

[The pencil she's using is tapped against her lip a few times as she thinks over how to word things. And finally, figuring it out, she grins.]

Has anyone here been able to switch to something else that's in their house? Or to the power of another house entirely?

[She glances down at her paper, and writes a quick sentence down upon it.]

And okay, this question is probably pretty personal, but how many of you have different abilities back home? I've heard that a lot of people here do. I was thinking about it, and was curious to figure out if anyone here has had their real powers come back to them? It's kind of important that I figure that part out.

[She acts like she's going to say something more, but then her jaw clamps shut. Seconds later, the video cuts off and Claire waits for responses so she can write them down. ]

[While Jamie's not certain about at least a couple of the questions that Claire's brought up, he can answer one or two of them at least in part. It may not be exactly what she's looking for, but it's something, and he figures he might as well chime in and tell her what he can.]

Don't know as if I've heard of anyone switching powers to something else, at least not on purpose. All I've been able to manage here is to improve what I've got, and learning about that was odd enough, if ye ask me.

[Claire's going to take a moment to appreciate that accent.

What about it was weird? Just having the power itself? Because there's a lot weirder that can happen. Trust me.

[Jamie seems to be quite unaware of any accent that he might have, which also means he's quite unaware of anyone appreciating it. But on the plus side, his being oblivious means that he'll happily keep talking and provide plenty of opportunities for to it to listened to.]

Aye. Back home, we've not got any powers like that. Well, there's stories you'd hear about witches and the like, but that's not quite the same as finding ye can suddenly run somewhere much faster than you'd ever been able to manage before.

[He brings a hand up to his chin, though, stroking it for a moment in a thoughtful sort of way.]

Although ye might be right about there being things that are weirder. I've seen a fair few strange things in my day myself. Take it ye must have as well, then.

If you find your abilities returned to you, then I would be aware of the possibility that you may suffer death. [His tone is carefully measured, firm, but not harsh.] It would seem that whatever is removed from us is somehow lethally incompatible with Asgard's environment.

That doesn't make any sense to me. What about original powers aren't compatible with this place, but makes the ones they give us okay? And has it ever been proven that they're incompatible? Or is it just something we're told and expected to accept?

From what I know, unless you go home and come back, switching houses and using their powers isn't possible. Or changing to the other power your house has.

And as far as the powers from home go, I didn't have any but from what I've been told, we don't get them back. But some here might be similar to what people could do back home, I guess.

But it is possible to go back home and then come back again? Interesting.

[Oh my God, it's the third Dr. Whale face. She just smiles and smiles and takes a moment to get to actually responding with words.]

[There's a soft laugh, and she arches an eyebrow curiously.]

[There were a couple of questions that he has decided to skim over as he has no interest in responding, but there is one that he supposes was proper to offer a response for. It was a very delicate matter.]

The only way to switch abilities is to be returned home and for another deity to chose you again. When I first arrived to this world, I was placed under Heimdall, then Loki, and finally Freya. You cannot use any of the abilities you once had before.

[Skipping the powers he had back home, but he will respond to her next question though.]

There was once a time that the deities returned a selected few their original abilities. I will link you the result in a moment, but before I do I must warn you that what I will sent you are very graphic in nature.

So you've gone through a few houses. Good to know it's possible. Thanks for the links to...those. Figuring out about original abilities coming back was what I really wanted to figure out. I guess what I should be focusing on are ways to get it back without worrying about it becoming more than my body can handle.

Which ability that you've had did you like the most though?

I've been here a while and I haven't heard of anyone being able to switch! Only of people getting stronger with the power they were given. No one seems to have gotten their abilities from home back either. I don't have any myself but friends of mine do and I know they haven't.

Yeah, I've heard of people getting stronger. And I mean, I plan on it. I just...wish I had something else. Maybe something a little more familiar.

What I can do here is just a very small aspect of my magic back where I'm from. Better than nothing.

As far as I know the only thing that happens here is that you become more proficient at the power you are given over time.

I'm fairly certain you can't swap powers--I asked around about it when I first came here. [because he was buttmad he wasn't in Sigyn.]

No abilities back home, by the way, so I can't really help on that question. Why do you ask?

Figures you'd ask about it too.

[She's starting to think they're a lot alike. It helps her think of him as being more like a brother figure, at least.]

I have an ability back home, and I want it here too. I don't think it's fair that it was taken away and they have the power here but the gods gave me something else instead.

[Grinning, she laughs a little. She has a lot of definitions, but she'll stick with something simple.]

Anything that normal beings wouldn't have.

[She's careful not to use people or humans, since she's met some here that wouldn't qualify for either label.]

Like telepathy, telekinesis, running at the speed of light, anything special like that.

Do you grow so weary of your house powers that you wish to trade them already? I do not think it possible.

[It's said almost shamefaced, in a way that very much sounds like a child trying to impress an older sibling or a parent.]

I just want what's mine given back to me. The other power in my house is regeneration, and I think I should have it. That's not so wrong, is it?

Having them come back is a really unpleasant experience. Don't wish for it.

Did you have your magician powers come back or something?

[The question comes out almost joking, but there's a very curious and serious look on her face as she tries to figure him out. Powers are important to her, being so much of who and what she is now, and she's a little interested to find out how many people here can relate to her on some level.]

I didn't have abilities of my own back home but for the powers here? I've heard switching them is pretty unlikely.

Yeah, that seems to be the case. Which sucks. Really, really badly.
