twelfth arrow fired. ➵ voice ➵ sat by the water, remembering embers.
In light of everything that's been happening lately... [ Which is a weird outlook for her to have, but she's actually feeling mildly excited about this... If not for herself, but for Peeta's sake. Either way, she's in a decent mood for once. And she'd love to help lighten the mood... Also for once. ] Peeta and I are starting to plan our wedding. Something simple, nothing too lavish.
[ She takes a deep breath, because she wants to ask Effie, but she knows that Effie will try to make it into something far more grand than she's looking for. ] I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me look for a dress.
Private to Rue ;
I've heard some wedding traditions include a younger girl who drops flowers for the wedding party. Would you? [ There's something in her voice that cracks a little, and she's welled up with emotion for a moment... Because Rue, and flowers. ]
Private to Peeta ;
You aren't allowed to see the dress until the day of the ceremony. If I bring one home, you can't use the closet until it's covered up.

Do you really want me to do it?
[This seems too good to be true.]

Who else would I want? Of course I want you!

If I'm the flower girl, does that mean I can help you with the flower decorations for the wedding, too? I've been practicing!

[She'll pick the best flowers ever, just you wait. No one's gonna know what hit them at the wedding.]
What about the dress?

[He's just teasing, though.]
I won't peek.

[Peeta wishes the same, especially for her.]
And if he's not in time for this one, we can always do it again. I wouldn't mind.

Two weddings? [ Three... Again, her eyes drop. There's a little smile on her lips, but it's more sad. Just what is it, exactly, that he even sees in her. She's not anything that special. Beyond being a symbol, she never really has been. Or she hasn't considered herself as much. He's told her, stories about her, things he remembers that she can barely hold on to... And Haymitch could never have been more right. She could live a thousand lives and never deserve him. ]

permavoice;
Were you thinking traditional? White, full skirt, the works?
permavoice;
I'm not sure what you mean by full skirt, or the works. But white, yes. I want something simple. Nothing too overdone, if I can avoid it.

In my... world... proper wedding dresses are floor-length, and maybe high-waisted. You wear a veil, you hold a bouquet-- it's a look.
But simple could work. Pretty well, actually.

I don't need anything that extravagant. We barely had enough food to eat when I was growing up. Where I live, we don't do those sorts of things. Or, we didn't. We had no resources. Most people in my district were starving. There was one wedding dress for almost everyone. People shared it. It was washed between wearings. But it was for the entire community.

I mean, it's ultimately your choice. The bride is always right, you know.

[It's nice to see so many people finding love and/or rekindling it amidst this war.]
Will you need flowers?
