Hello, everyone. I know it's been a long time but I've finally finished writing up all my notes about Asgard and everyone's worlds. I know it doesn't quite cover all the worlds that have been introduced here but it's a start! If you'd like to add anything then, please, let me know as soon as you're able.

[ She smiles, softly, expression bright. She's very proud of herself, really, and more than glad that she's finally able to contribute something solid and real to Asgard. She's finally able to put all her research together and actually show it to her friends and acquaintances and, maybe, actually help them in the long run. ]

It's a digital file, so I think you should all be able to access it using your bracelets. If you have any problems then, please, let me know and I'll do whatever I can to help.

That sounds similar to what was going on in the magical community. Thankfully, it seems like people are developing a better understanding of things and overcoming their prejudices.

I hope so. We've been able to fight in battles and persevere and do good here, so I can only hope that continues.

Most people seem to be doing alright on that front, honestly. [ There are a few exceptions, but...

And that is definitely one way to perk Hermione up. ] Yes, please! Anything you feel comfortable sharing.

Hm. ( he pauses, thinks about how to start. )

Well, the year was 2260 before I got here. There's no magic, but lots of technology beyond what you see around here, or from what I've heard from other people. No vampire or werewolves, but we've made contact with dozens of alien species.

Oh, wow.

[ 2260. That's almost three hundred years after her own time - which is probably why his technology is far more advanced. Understandable. ]

What kind of alien species, if that's not too rude to ask? Does your world - or, I suppose, time - have space and time travel like the Doctor's?

There were four planets who came into contact, after the initial stages. Vulcan, Andoria, Betazed and Earth. All those species are mostly humanoid, though they've got different physiologies and abilities-- Vulcans are telepaths, Betazoids are empaths. Since then, we've explored further and come into contact with countless others. Some are friendlier than others.

We've got space travel-- commercial and exploratory. We've... experienced time travel. But it isn't normal, we don't have active access to it. And I, for one, don't want it.

So it's almost like the different continents on Earth, then, to make a crude comparison? Each continent has, say, a different language and society - and it's the same for the different races and plants that you've encountered?

[ Okay, she's getting this. It's amazing and daunting all at the same time. ]

Space travel is normal, even commercial, but time travel is often an accident more than anything else?

Yeah, that's one way of looking at it. There's lots of diversity within each planet, but that's the easiest way to ID people. Federation species or not, then what planet, then more specific than that if you've got the time.

( uhura would probably be able to explain this all better. )

I don't know if you can even say "often." I've only heard of it happening one time. Maybe one and a half.

The Federation? Is that something like the United Nations?

[ He's doing well, at least to Hermione. This different world/same planet information can get a little tangled. ]

So it's a rarity - are the scientists of your time still researching it?

That's right. United Federation of Planets. It's got more authority than the UN ever did, though.

Yeah, but it's complicated and risky. No one's willing to go into active experimentation.

I can only imagine, given that it's united planets rather than just united nations.

[ She nods, brushing hair out of her face. ]

Time travel is a lot easier in my world. We have a magical tool that allows us to travel through time, though the use of it is incredibly restricted.

...how does that not create splinter-universes?

( he sighs, runs a hand down his face. )

Wait, don't tell me. Magic.

Yes, exactly.

[ She grins, looking quite pleased. ]

You have to be very careful with it, thought. You can't interact with your past or future self or let either one see you or things will go very, very wrong.

I don't think that one holds up, in my universe.

( though he wouldn't put it past spock to fuck something like that up. )

But I guess it makes sense, if time is a constant and you're the variable. As opposed to the other way around.

That's how it goes with the magic, you're right. I think it's more like you move through time and become something that can change events - time is a constant. It's a little complicated, I think.

Yeah, tell me about it.

This place doesn't help matters. I'm surprised they manage to keep it stable at all-- it's one big temporary mess.

( he laughs, at that, and his whole face seems different somehow. )

You gotta admit it's a bit of a cop-out.

Just a little, but they're Gods. I think they've got an excuse.

And apparently they use that one for just about everything. I'd be more inclined to accept it if they were Gods in anything but name.

At least it's easy for me to accept it being magic and nothing else. People from more technological worlds must think this is all a little mental, right?

If by that you mean completely crazy, then yeah.

Though I've got a friend or two who'd probably try to mathematically quantify all this, anyway. We're a little attached to the sciences and logic, in the Fleet.

Oh, I can understand that. Despite being in a world of magic there are some things that even I find difficult to believe - but I do have a highly rational and logical mind, so perhaps that's my excuse.
