Useful in the sense of actually having an impact at all, of course. What other definition of useful could there be?

I suppose here it's nothing more than mere science which is a tragedy in and of itself. I own an apothecary over in Baldr's district. I'm looking for a new employee or two.

No, and that only increases my fascination with it. I'm a scientist in my own universe.

Truthful.

It has given us some amazing advances - electricity, travel, medicines... as well as helping to make our lives easier. We also understand far more about the world around us than we ever have.

Magic has done the same for us in our world...aside from electricity, that's an entirely other matter. I find that magic offers more alternatives than science, however. Doesn't science only provide one answer for most things?

Not necessarily. Generally it's the scientist who is savvy enough to get his idea recognised the fastest who holds sway. History is littered with sad stories of scientists who actually come up with better ideas, but due to one thing or another, have been pushed aside.

So science is basically a game of who gets credit for someone else's work.
