[ There are some people in the world who really shouldn't be given any sort of technology or utensil without first receiving some hands-on instruction. Well, even more than is standard upon arrival. Peter Pettigrew, unfortunately, is one of them. The video jolts and even falls to the floor before it rights itself, but upside down. ]

Hn. Owls really would just be easier.

[ It rattles again, and really, wearing a bracelet should not be so difficult. ][ A sigh. ]

Merlin, this is -- well. I... I was just wondering if maybe anyone played chess? I... I don't know.

Something to do, maybe? Besides... well, this thing.

[ He gestures to the bracelet, which only serves to make the video fuzzy and flicker out. Sorry, he's never been very good at introductions, and certainly no good at making many friends. ]

It remains a distinct possibility, though I admit the inverse does not follow. I believe if you look closely, Mr. Pettigrew, you'll find your messages to the network signed -- whether wittingly or otherwise -- by your name, or by that name which you were given upon entry.

[ There are ways around that, but they don't bear mentioning to him now. ]

For example, you may find mine signed 'Albus Dumbledore'. It's usually a bit easier to pick out with the written word.

[ Ah. So there are names, indeed! And he flushes a bit, embarrassed. But then a blink. Dumbledore. ]

Professor Dumbledore?

[ And that's a wide eyed stare, one he's probably used to getting from these folk. ] I mean -- are you really -- but you're -- wait, what?

[ He wasn't always the brightest, after all. ]

[ He pauses, readying for the inevitable. It's a quick swap to video, his countenance gentle and smiling. ]

I'm afraid time works by unusual measure here, Mr. Pettigrew. The year I arrived from is 1909, a dreadfully dear sight before most our fellows.
