[This isn't going to be long, as Castiel is distracted, but...]

I believe this may be an opportune time to mention that I have potions available which eliminate hangover symptoms.

[That's how he's up and running around after how much he drank the night before, after all.]

Do you often get drunk, Castiel? [ what would Father say, tsk tsk ]

Not so often anymore.

[He isn't really ashamed of it, though his wife has put an end to him going overboard more than rarely.]

Was there a reason why you did before? [ Lucifer is certain he won't tell him, but worth the shot ]

Of course. I rarely do things for no reason.

[He's definitely not explaining though, no.]

[ it's because he doesn't that Satan is interested ]

Is there a reason why you do now? [ he did imply it still happens. And with a reason, too. After all, Castiel rarely does things for no reason, right? ]

There is.

[And while Castiel think his drinking is entirely justified, he's also not interested in explaining it to any world's Lucifer, so he tries to take control of the conversation.]

Have you ever tried it?

[ that is good enough, for now. bit by bit. ]

Of course I have.

Drunk, smoked, did drugs- all those so-called earthly pleasures. [ he has little use for them. At the time, he did not know he was Satan, so does it even count?

However, Satan does drink. Not to get drunk, but because he enjoys the taste. It's that simple. ]

Did you not enjoy them?

[Castiel hasn't tried smoking or drugs of any sort; he doesn't think he'd like the latter, and he's sure his wife wouldn't like the former (or the latter either.) And Castiel is the complete opposite, as he doesn't like the taste of alcohol but enjoys the effects.]

They had a placebo effect on me. Nothing like that truly affects me, but if I believe so, it does. [ might be different, in Asgard ]

[ he tilts his head to the side, softly ]

Of the three, I enjoy drinking. Because of the taste.

Interesting. Substances effect angels in my world, but only if we consume a great deal of it.

[It had taken an entire liquor store for Castiel to get drunk while an angel, and he had been at low power at the time.]

Alcohol is... Bitter.

I know. And there is a burning sensation down your throat when you swallow it. [ he likes it ]

I'll give humans credit for creating it.

It is indeed an achievement.

[Though he does find it somewhat amusing that humans basically invented a poison meant for consumption, but it probably says something.]

[ that's also why it's great. Humans are the best at creating things that will kill them, either slowly or fast. ]

If you tried alcohol, big amounts of it too [ since he said Angels could only feel the effects if they consumed a lot of it ], you were wandering around Earth.

Why? [ he doesn't expect an answer, castiel seems to avoid answering questions like that ]

[Castiel doesn't mind answering this question, actually. It's no secret.]

I left Heaven for a time to help prevent the Apocalypse.

Oh? Apocalypse?

Against Lucifer? [ he may say that name with a slightly mocking tone ]

Correct, though the side I was on opposed both Lucifer and Michael.

Michael too? Why?

Because even if Michael won, humanity would be devastated.

[ OH PFF. Who the fuck would care?

Well, apparently Castiel does. ]

And what did Father have to say about that?

[But humans!!!1!]

Our Father doesn't say anything.

[A pause.]

Actually, that is not true. He spoke through another angel to tell us that the Apocalypse was not His concern.

[ and Satan actually snorts at that, trying to hold back a laugher, though he is quite obvious and he doesn't care. ]

Forgive me, brother, but you see: I fought against that apathy Gods has towards His own creations four years. And I find out that He is the same in your world. [ ~*~ irony ~*~ ]

[ Satan leans back, crossing his arms over his chest, his expression more serious now, with a softer tone ]

Do you still think He is always right? [ he doesn't. If Castiel did, he would also find apocalypse to be none of his concern either ]

[Castiel's eyes narrow, because he has no desire to feed Satan's ego over the issue of God. But he does answer the one question, because it's a fair one.]

I used to. I do not any longer.

[He's thought that God had been right about the Apocalypse; obviously He didn't need to be involved, as it had been handled without Him. But when the angels needed Him most, He'd ignored them all, and now so many are dead.]

What a predicament, isn't it, brother? [ he is not mocking Castiel. He speaks softly and in a way he is being sincere, though his feelings towards the subject are no longer as sad as he makes it sound ~~it's mostly anger now~~ ] To find out that Father is not as we thought Him to be. We who are not meant to have free will feel it even more than others would, because of what He is and means to us - it's almost like a betrayal. [ it IS a betrayal. ]

have you ever thought of it? If you meet Him?

I don't believe I ever will meet Him. At this point, it matters little.

[He won't talk about his speculations, either, or what he'd like to say to his Father.]

We can make our own choices and lead ourselves. We don't need Him to direct us.

It will matter. Sooner or later.
