021 [Video] | Early morning D416
[This isn't going to be long, as Castiel is distracted, but...]
I believe this may be an opportune time to mention that I have potions available which eliminate hangover symptoms.
[That's how he's up and running around after how much he drank the night before, after all.]
[[ooc: I am finally getting Cas' shop up and going! An open log is up here, but feel free to reply or offline on this post if you want. c: The shop's page is also mostly finished!]]

Our Father doesn't say anything.
[A pause.]
Actually, that is not true. He spoke through another angel to tell us that the Apocalypse was not His concern.
Forgive me, brother, but you see: I fought against that apathy Gods has towards His own creations four years. And I find out that He is the same in your world. [ ~*~ irony ~*~ ]
[ Satan leans back, crossing his arms over his chest, his expression more serious now, with a softer tone ]
Do you still think He is always right? [ he doesn't. If Castiel did, he would also find apocalypse to be none of his concern either ]
I used to. I do not any longer.
[He's thought that God had been right about the Apocalypse; obviously He didn't need to be involved, as it had been handled without Him. But when the angels needed Him most, He'd ignored them all, and now so many are dead.]
it's mostly anger now] To find out that Father is not as we thought Him to be. We who are not meant to have free will feel it even more than others would, because of what He is and means to us - it's almost like a betrayal. [ it IS a betrayal. ]have you ever thought of it? If you meet Him?
[He won't talk about his speculations, either, or what he'd like to say to his Father.]
We can make our own choices and lead ourselves. We don't need Him to direct us.
[ Satan tilts his head ]
That much is true. It took you so long, though. <small<[ Lucifer, the black sheep of the family, figured it out faster than anyone else ]
Don't condescend to me. It did not take any of us long.
[But every time one of them began to question--or, in Castiel's case, rebel--they were tortured and their memories erased. It's only recently, in the last few months at home, that Castiel found out he has rebelled countless times that he still can't remember, and probably never will be able to.]
Then tell how long it passed since your version of Lucifer fell from Heaven and you finally realized that you aren't just a puppet of God?
He isn't about to explain any of that, so there's little he can say and he considers just hanging up. But finally, he speaks.]
Doubting God, or our orders, or our mission risks incurring the same fate that befell our world's Lucifer. Those doubts and questions were therefore kept silent, though they were considered by many for a very long time.
What exact fate befell your world's Lucifer, brother?
[It isn't so much falling, though that would have terrified a lot of angels; it was the being tortured and brainwashed and then eventually killed if that didn't work.]
He was cast out and imprisoned in a portion of Hell.
[ Imprisoned in Hell. He has to wonder what that would be like. ]
Have you seen it? Hell.
[To anyone, let alone another world's Lucifer.]
I have. I have been to Hell and Lucifer's Cage both.
How was it like?
[Suffocating and dark and endlessly horrific.]
Have you ever been, in your world?
[He would presume so, but who knows.]
[ Satan nods. ] I was in Hell when I was pulled here. My cage is actually a demon called Zenon, and he was my right hand before. Father locked me inside of him.
[But the Cage had been a different situation, though he's not going to go into detail on that. Instead he tilts his head, eyebrows furrowed slightly.]
What did that entail?
[ Satan closes his eyes for a moment. He is not going to specify because that would mean saying too much about his world, but he will still answer ] Psychological torture. It was not Zenon that provoked it, he simply contained it.
[Hell is different now, and not particularly terrible, but no. There are very few people he wishes harm on, and it's never Hell.
For a moment he feels a flash of sympathy at Satan's answer, quiet, and he offers just a little insight into his world in return.]
That seems a common punishment among angels.
[ but he will pay attention to Castiel's words. ]
Were angels being punished due to those doubts and questions you mentioned?
[It was God, surely, just as it was in his world. He doesn't answer the last question, though he doesn't hostilely change the subject either.]
You may not enjoy hearing this, but you and I are not so different, Castiel.
[It isn't angry or defensive, just a statement, because he knows it's true.]
[He's not really pleased, but he isn't offended either; it is fact that he and Lucifer--at least his world's Lucifer--are similar in many ways. They're strong-willed, independent, adaptable and capable and clever but also volatile, temperamental, insecure and desperate to be recognized and respected. There's no denying that, even if Castiel had done so when his Lucifer told him exactly what this one had.
But despite their similarities he's trying to take different actions--make different choices--even if so far he has utterly failed.]
