Just before I get started, just in case anyone wanted to say 'oh hey, Lydia, you're back'? I am but I'm not. I know that I've been here before, I was happily told that, but I don't remember it. So for anyone that did know me you might want to reintroduce yourself first.

Now that that's out of the way, I've been doing some reading. With everything that has happened and is supposed to I want to know what I'm going to be in for. Apparently that's not the easiest thing to do. Not concisely, anyway. But what's a network full of people for if not to help someone out?

One of the gods has died before and it saved us when we should have died. [ That she found out from the network rather than a book, helpful soul ] Have any of the others died or was it just this one? Because I'm assuming that we're still in a war, so what's happened since and why was that incident so different? Cliff notes version, preferably.

Not too long ago, Thor nearly sacrificed himself in a similar way to save everyone. It's surprising that he didn't die, really. But everyone's forgotten it.

[He knows he sounds fairly bitter, but he's ... honestly very bitter about the subject, as these things go.]

He managed to do it all in time. I think Odin might have helped, but I'm not certain. It was a close call.

[Harry's not certain because of his own lacking information around that time, and, again, no one talks about it.]

Adding wisdom to his strength makes sense, and could explain why it was all done.

[ Although if they could do some things and stop that part of the war then why not everything? What had those brought here done that they couldn't? ]

What about us, then? If Odin and Thor managed to stop whatever they stopped, what are we doing that they can't? Minus the colour.

They're not an army. It's different, and we were technically brought here not to fight, but to help with the colour. The fighting was a choice by many, but I think a necessary one.

[He thinks that should be clear enough. He hopes, anyway.]

I think the fact that that choice was made makes it seem like it's part of the reason why we're here.

[ At least to new people, especially when war or death gets thrown around as much as grey could ]

But if we can fix their problem then it's a step for us.

It was still a choice, and no one is required to go along with battles. There's only been one battle that required anything, and that's because they attacked the city unexpectedly. It's always a choice.

[He does want that to be clear.]

But we fix the problem when we aren't being hurt too much. Thiazi knows to target us.

Thiazi. Leader of the enemy at all?

[ It's not entirely a guess from the topic ]

How many battles have there been, and do we know how to target Thiazi?

I don't know the exact number, unfortunately. But Merlin or Arthur might be good people to contact on the matter. They've been here since the very beginning. [Plus, Harry trusts their judgment on the matter.]

As for targeting her, for some reason we just don't. I haven't really figured that out myself.

Merlin would know all of this?

[ She might need convincing on that matter ]

Isn't that kind of something we should do? How can you defeat an enemy if you don't try? Otherwise we're just letting her beat us.

Yeah, definitely. He knows just about anything, and he's easy to talk to, too.

[On his part, he sounds ... perhaps a bit too admiring. But it's Merlin. Plus, he's been very kind to Harry.]

We win our battles, though. Generally. The problem is that we wait for the opportunity to fight a battle in the first place.

[ HMM. She'd definitely have to ask about that, even if she found it a bit hard to believe ]

At least there's one thing good. Has anyone ever thought to take it to her?

Yeah, I have. [He says it quickly.] But some people don't want to believe we're here to fight and fight alone.

Then they don't have to. If people aren't committed then they might not actually help.

It's one thing not to believe that. You can believe that, but still fight.

[intelligently]

Do you believe it all, then? Everything that they say?

[livedtwice]

I don't believe everything, but I think it's also bad to start off believing the worst.

[intelligently]

If you believe the worst it might be hard to get disappointed, or for something worse to happen.

[ At least you were prepared even if it was a terrible view point ]

But in war you should at least believe you have a chance to win, or you never will.

[Harry debates over her words. It's complicated. Fighting wars. Fighting and having direction. He knows what it's like to fight with no idea where to go, no idea what should come next.

And he's succeeded, if only because he had to, if only because he had no other choice.]

I think some people are able to do what they can for others as much as they can.

As in just helping people but getting nowhere or in doing more than that?

No ... er, I guess it's more that, they want to help people, even if they don't believe they'll succeed.

[intelligently]

Then at least they get points for trying.

I don't want to believe that we won't succeed.

Neither do I, and we have done well in our battles, so it's a fair believe to have.

Then let's just keep doing well and it'll be fine.
