Oi, [Comes the booming voice of one redhead, trying to understand this thing on her wrist. For a moment she shakes her wrist before looking back down.]

You lot, if y'can see me. [She's just looking down scornfully. Wildlings don't even understand Southern technology and you want to throw this at her.]

I have a few choice words for your gods, but first. Jon Snow, if y'be here, you best reply to me here. Don't think I've forgot about you, just 'cuz I've wound up here. You know nothing. [She has some hope that if these gods could choose her, he'd be here, too. Then the Crows wouldn't matter (not that they did to begin with). But neither would the Wall nor her people.]

You other lot, not bein' Jon Snow, I'd ask the same as I did them girls I talked to. What keeps you from goin' outside the city? Where I'm from we do as we please, the Free Folk. No god cares 'bout what we do as men. Or women. Why fight their war? I fought my own war because some Southern king decided years ago he'd put my people behind some great wall. I decided to be a spearwife to lodge me own spear up every Crow whose crossed into our land's ass. [That didn't exactly happen, but semantics.]

It was my lands though. If y'can't fight for what's yours, maybe you never deserved it. Don't need no named god tellin' me that.

Crow meaning something other than - crow. [Because otherwise, that makes no sense.

She gets another, quieter laugh.] You didn't hurt my feelings, trust me. But you've gotta admit that basically saying "I won't forget you, you dumbass" is gonna get some attention.

A Crow is what we call the Night's Watch, a bunch o'men who wear black and swear some oaths of no money and no women and guard the Wall from my lot. Only they come into our lands and think they can do as they please. [Basically they can't.]

Jon's different. [She gets quiet. She knows what he did, and every time she thinks about it, it hurts.] He was with me before I came here. An' wherever I'm supposed to go, he can't go with me.

Sleeping with the enemy. [That's no longer the most interesting part, though.] So what makes you so scary that you need a whole guard of monks to keep you where you belong?

[He looks pretty neutral, but he's obviously coming out on her side. The sound of that rubs him the wrong way.]

It was different then. I knew he was a Southerner. [But she wanted Jon to choose her, not duty. She could have gone with him.]

We stand for everything they hate. We're different. They put us behind a wall, cuz we don't bend no knee. We were there first. It was our land til they came over. And then they put everything on the other side o' that Wall, thinkin' it won't come back. Well we ain't the only things comin'.

[About what he expected, at least the first bit. His lips curl into a cold smile.]

Every world. Every fucking world, no one's any different. And the gods here like the ones from the "wrong" side of the wall, at least from what I've seen.

So you've got a damn good reason to get back, too.

I'm the only one I've seen from above the Wall. Too many kings for my liking. [She curls her lip.]

I've no reason to go back.

Kings, huh. Is your world responsible for that ten-year-old shit they stuck a crown on and taught that he was the greatest man alive before his balls even dropped? 'Cause that's the worst of the kings I've seen around here, and he can go right back.

[Okay, he was older than ten. But he stands out at the word 'king' because he was so adamant about it, and his age really did make the entire thing ludicrous. (And yes, he does mean Joffrey, he's just blanking on the name.)]

So what happened to "coming back," the big wall-breaking rebellion to get your land back? Already gave up on that?

What? [Then she thinks on who he means.] Oh, that little shit? He's some southern boy. We've no kings above the Wall 'less we choose'em. No boy would be king just like no man is 'cuz their father was. You are who you are, above the Wall. Yer own actions.

Dead women can't hold spears. And there's little t'fight when yer people were defeated.

They're scared of democracy. This gets better and better. [He shakes his head, laughing to himself.] If that's what the royal families can pump out, yeah, I'd be sticking on your side of the wall too. Not like family means much to us anyway.

[And then the smile's wiped from his face.

Damnit, he always slams headfirst into that one with as little grace as possible. Not like he cares most of the time, but at least once he'd like to be able to make that little deduction ahead of time.]

Fuck. [His expression is almost personally affronted.] All the coolest chicks here are dead, I swear to god. Or most of 'em, anyway. Half the rest have as good as that coming to them.

[She just sort of shrugs.] Family is what y'make o' it. Y'can have right pricks for fathers or sweet sisters or you choose that your village is as much yer kin. Which is why y'choose someone outside the village. [Just in case. Incest isn't cool with the Wildlings.

For his surprise she smirks. Death never scared her, and she died for what she believed in. Better yet, she didn't die alone. That fire in her is partially subdued though.]

He was with me when it happened. Then I woke up here. [He'll know who she means. She forgave him, lying there bleeding out.] Even with an arrow lodged in me chest, he still tried t'make it okay. He knew nothing.

[Village, school, Brotherhood, race - however you put it, he had to get out of his "village" before he ever found the will to settle down. These sound more and more like his kind of people, and he nods at that, even if he still mostly rejects family. An adoptive family, a family in spirit, could leave just as easily as one made of blood.]

There's worse ways to die. [And now her earlier statement makes sense.] I've seen a few here, and been through at least one, more if you count really fucked up shared dreams. Like I said, you're in good company.

[And then he grins faintly.] And apparently he still doesn't. I got that. I don't usually do the whole warning thing, and I doubt you need it, but second chances here usually aren't as good as they sound at first.

I don't care about second chances. That means the first weren't good enough. I wasn't afraid of death, 'cuz I lived. I died fightin' for my people in the arms of someone I loved. How many get t'say the same? [She levels him a serious look, pride in her eyes.]

[His grin turns back into a smirk.]

That's what I thought. Just don't let this place change your mind.

I'm a free woman, a spearwife, and kissed by fire. Nothin' can change my mind.

Free or not, it's a good thing you're pretty much spoken for too, or I'd be in trouble. [His eyes light up. That attitude is like a breath of fresh air around here.]

So what's the literal translation of "kissed by fire?"

[She smiles all too keenly at him. She's not preening, and she's no girl in no dress swooning, but who doesn't love an ego boost?]

My hair. It's the color of fire. My people believe me lucky for it. [She's a ging.]

[They're rare enough from him, but he can definitely appreciate a hot, smart-mouthed woman.]

Huh. We just call you 'redheads,' but I like that better. Since I've got a more literal touch of fire and all that.

[--hold on.]

What d'ya mean? Like a dragon?

I don't breathe it, if that's what you're talking about. I manipulate it. However you can imagine. Total control over fire.

[The pride in his voice starts to wilt away.]

At least back home. Apparently this world doesn't like any "magic" other than its own, even if it's a genetic skill and nothing like magic. And I mean it gets seriously pissed off. Just part of my big fucking list of reasons to get out of here as soon as possible.

They took it from you? [She likes these gods less and less.]

Y'can't take it back?

I could. Had a lot of plans for taking the gods down one by one until the last one standing either gave it back or sent me home.

Then I got it back and my head blew up. Literally. All over my girlfriend and one of my best friends, I'm guessing, since they were right there before it went. They don't like to talk about it.

[He doesn't even mention the loss of control, the addictive force of the mutation after having it gone for so long. This should have enough of an impact, and doesn't make him look bad.]

Like I said, outside powers and abilities don't mix with Asgard.

[His experience has her lip curling. She's seen gruesome deaths in her time, and that couldn't have been pleasant. She has nothing like that. The only notable quality is her red hair. But she thinks of Jon.]

What of wargs? I ain't one, but I know a man.
