King of them, anyway. Will's not showing his face today, nor is he showing anyone any dogs. There is nothing canine or fluffy about what he has to say, so far be it from him to distract with something canine and fluffy. It's also not the most savory of topics to address, and he probably looks like hell anyway. So text it is, because then he doesn't have to actually get up and shave and get dressed and looked presentable or like he has any business being outside of his room.]

I haven't been here an extraordinarily long time, but there seems to be a pattern with PSAs (Public Service Announcements) that's rather unavoidable to pick up on. Someone of ill repute who has caused a great deal of damage back in their own home gets pulled here where other people from their home have already been taken, and thus the Traveler [Traveller! Traveller! T R A V E L L E R!] population is informed about the life and times of whoever it is that the gods pulled in without thinking about their choice that much. For the safety of the people, so we know who should be avoided and why they should be avoided. Sometimes those people have already proven themselves to be worth as much by their actions in Asgard, sometimes they haven't.

[Does kicking a dog count? Animal abuse is a sign of someone being pretty messed up, but whatever. Will thinks this is all pretty ridiculous and it totally has nothing to do with his own issues back home. It's not at all him projecting in any way because he's had a tabloid "journalist" frequently writing articles on him being an insane serial killer with a bunch of people commenting on it. It totally has nothing to do with that because Will is in his right mind and has taken the time needed to distance himself from that.

What I'm really concerned about is the lack of communication between us Travelers who already know or have been told all of this and the Natives. I don't see any posters to warn or inform them. I don't see what good it does in the long run if we warn one group but not the other, unless the goal is to create a glaringly obvious "us versus them" mentality or instill the idea that Travelers are the only real people in Asgard. If that's the case, job well done. If it's not, we should fix this. I don't know many of the Natives personally, [That would require talking at length and that is not at all Will's ballgame. And, also, he might turn them grayer than they'd ever been in the first place.] but I don't want their numbers to decrease because we, as a group, decided they didn't matter and left them as easy prey. That actually seems to go against the entire point of warning anyone at all, making it almost completely pointless. Like wrapping a present in front of the person you mean to give it to.

If we're not going to actually act on what we say, we could always just go the next step and turn this network into a gossip rag. We can just start taking pictures and asking who wore the little black dress better, point out two people holding hands and ask for details about their blooming romance, start sharing tips for dieting and gardening, and occasionally spatter it with some graphic imagery of murder to keep things varied.

I think that's a very, very good point. Although you rather lost me at the end. But no, I agree, it's hardly prudent to only warn other travelers; we'd be hypocritical at best and rather terrible people at worst if all we did is stand idly by.

I'm not sure if you're saying that I'm currently using techniques similar to Freddie Lounds or that my writing is as poor as hers. [Because that would be a really nasty burn.] I honestly can't say, but if we don't try, then why bring it up in the first place? All notions of gossip aside, perhaps those broadcasting warnings hadn't come up with an effective way of informing the natives. Who knows if they'd even take notice of signs?

Regardless, I certainly can't blame them for wanting to inform our populace; nearly everyone must have a person they'd be tempted to warn others about, should he arrive.

Maybe they wouldn't take notice, but we could draw their attention to it. Wanting to warn and help is good and well and all, but if we don't actually see it through to the end, it serves nothing in the end. And it sets it up for failure and more grief on everyone's end.

So we either fix this or do absolutely nothing and prove that the entire thing was, what? An attempt to just feel good, and to set ourselves up for feeling awful later on?

Some of the one talked about have proved themselves to be the same here as they were home. Another hasn't done a single thing to earn it, other than be who he was back home. It's both tasteless and tacky.

I'm not trying to be judge, jury, and executioner. "Bad things" is relative. I've done plenty of things I am not proud of, and I believe most people have. What I'm concerned about is those in Asgard who have done rather bad things and no one has thought to warn the entire population. What I'm concerned about is people being ready to smear those from their homes before they have a chance to even get used to the idea or settle.

This is not home. This is, in a way, a fresh start. If it's taken and run with a good way...why not see how that develops and be glad if it goes well?

There's at least one here who's proven that already. It's been impossible to miss since I've been here. But the others warned against, I'm not sure. One was spoken of recently who has done nothing at all since he's been here, and yet apparently the first thing that must have been done was warn the population about him.

What have we done all along? Nothing but talk amongst ourselves. Why, then, if some are so certain that others here are dangerous and to be avoided, is that all we've done? It seems that either the Natives are disregarded or some of this talk is, essentially, gossip. So we either do something about it if it is true or recognize it for it what it is (gossip) and stop pretending it's anything else. It's becoming repulsive, like cutting open a turkey for dinner and finding it undercooked and having no way to cook it further, meaning you either starve or risk making yourself sick.

That's part of the problem with the whole thing. Either they're actually as bad as is being said and that should be acted on, or people just get it into their heads that they have someone they can talk crap about while acting like they're doing the public some great service.

If it's valid, treat it as valid. We're here for a war, not to talk smack about everyone we've ever had an issue with back home whenever they get here.

If these people are as dangerous, as truthfully dangerous as has been said, then going the whole way would be the proper thing to do. There's at least one party here who's done some rather heinous things in Asgard, so I would say he's proved that much right. But anyone else who has yet to do anything bad here, what is the purpose of a warning, specifically one that puts part of the population at a disadvantage?

Depending on which natives it is you're trying to warn, a lot of the communication happens between them. The natives that work in places like the hospital, or the Welcome Houses, who have more color and more control over their personalities and action and are actually aware of everything that happens do tend to try and spread events word of mouth. They're not kept completely in the dark.

But because they don't have any, or so far a need for, widespread communication nothing's been set in place. I know certain natives who work with the Forensics Unit do keep the natives they know informed, but without things like radio, or television, it's hard to put something like that in place.

Using fliers would need someone to put them up, someone who wouldn't mind being out and about during whatever ill-fated situation, or events, happen. Are you volunteering?

We're not the only people in Asgard. We keep all this (some very valid) information to ourselves, we're setting up a really bad time for everyone who cares about safety down the road. If we refuse to accept that the Natives are people, then what's the point?

There's been some warnings that are readily proven to be valid, and then a few others that seem more like people want to talk and do absolutely nothing about it, which is just as tasteless as comparing the one case I've seen valid gossip. I apologize.
