1st Giant Robot ♗ Audio ♗ Day 393

[HE HAS HAD ENOUGH OF THIS

It takes a certain amount of courage to actually post on the network, but damn it all, he can't keep going like this. What everyone else seems to consider to be common knowledge is completely and utterly new to him, and he's getting pretty sick of either asking questions and feeling stupid or avoiding the network, sooooo...

A young, slightly apprehensive voice comes onto the network.]

Does anyone know of a good place to go and learn about the ways and vocabulary of Asgard and other worlds besides our own?

[In the confusion of going to Alfheim and immediately going gray afterwards, he has not heard of the library or considered that information like that might be written down anywhere. Cut him some slack; he was illiterate a week ago.]
sirenae: ((☩) an honest way.)

[ GOOD FOR HIM. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. DON'T LET ANYONE EVER TELL HIM OTHERWISE.

Besides, there's no such thing as a stupid question for Lucy Stillman when it comes to children, so she merely concedes to being as clear as possible. The validity behind hearsay scrounged from alleyways doesn't lend much in terms of reliability and third-party records, but she's at least done some research of her own. ]

It helps to be a little more specific. There are a few resources for information on Asgard, but they all seem to be lacking in the "other worlds" department. Also, it might be a good idea to keep a journal of everything that's occurred since your arrival, even if it's just for a frame of reference.

Probably not much more than the rest of the newcomers, I can tell you that much. I've only recently arrived as well.

Just something to keep in mind. If you don't mind me asking, what exactly have you learned about Asgard so far?
sirenae: ((☩) crazier with you.)

voice.

I — ... you say that like it isn't normal. [ If anything, Lucy's genuinely perplexed by this turn of events. She's only on the short end of exasperation when the sentiment isn't candid, and it's readily evident that he's at a loss with the conventional normality of universes that subscribed to a standard of health and well-being. ] What is life normally like for you?

...they have libraries in your world, right? Because if not, here's a hint: it's the gigantic building in Odin with a huge amount of books. You can find information on Asgard's culture and history and on other worlds as well there.
unnaturallygreen: (was i really seeking good)

[She didn't mean to!!]

People will write anything down, so long as it's interesting to someone. If you want, I can help you find the books you need. [She might not work there, but the library's a second home of sorts for her.]

Yes, they do. Like I said, as long as it interests someone, people will write about it. And no, not really, as far as I know.

You can find plenty of information at the library, in Odin district. Or you can just ask around for information in general. If you really want you can just ask people about their own worlds.
snugglesjugs: (Push it!)

It is the biggest building in Odin district aside from the welcome hall. It's really close to Odin's welcome hall actually.

Yep, the library should a bit Northwest from the exit. You shouldn't miss it at all.

You should try remembering details of certain builds, it's easier to navigate around that way.

Your welcome.

[personal profile] ffuckoff 2014-01-28 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, there is a school here with a course in Asgard's history, and other histories, I mean, there's a history of magic course and a world history course.
ffuckoff: [phone] [smile] (where are you gonna get a kidney from?)

[personal profile] ffuckoff 2014-01-28 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
It's... a place where you learn things. You sit in a room, and we get an expert to tell you about stuff. Then there's a test at the end.
ffuckoff: [welp] [thinking] (i prefer... law stylist.)

[personal profile] ffuckoff 2014-02-02 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
Because there'll be somebody else in the room who knows what's up, and they'll tell you? I mean, unless you wanna go to vocational school, but they don't really teach vocab there.
ffuckoff: [smile] [career] (die werewolf zombie die.)

[personal profile] ffuckoff 2014-02-05 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
It's pretty easy, actually. I work there, I can sign you up right now, all you gotta do is show up on time.

There's always the library, of course, but there are some book stores that sell them besides. I always say that one of the best ways to get to know another culture--aside from exploring it yourself, if you're able--is to read their literature.

[When did you ever say that, Doctor? Well never mind, it's a good line anyway.]

Plenty of them, as it happens. Perhaps the people in any given culture--taken as individuals, that is--don't all know how to write, but I assure you, my boy; being able to record the history and doings of your past is one of the hallmarks of a true civilization.

[Don't mind him getting on his pompous horse over here.]

Mmm... you can read now, correct? If you don't want to have someone help you, you could always try picking up a book and reading the first few pages--though I don't recommend reading the last page first, that spoils the entire thing, particularly if it's a mystery novel.

Hell if I know. But that's what they do.
