027 - Video

[Samantha's letting the work she's been doing cool and still. The runes are just about ready now and the stones are all but fully placed into storage. She'll be sending a hand-written note to any of the conspirators still in the city to warn them that the weapon is fully prepared as of today.

But, it's no time like the present to return to a little side project she'd been accidentally 'inspired' to do by a certain other alchemist. It's been, along with the patrols, a good way to keep her mind off the fighting up north. There's, however, just a wee snag.]

So, whoever's still here. I know we're worried about Alfheim, but I figured some of us could use a distraction. I've got a favor to ask of one or two of you, if you're feeling daring.

I'm working on my latest potion, and I plan to unveil it in about a week, maybe two. Trick is that I really want to test it out before I go selling it. The stuff's a little volatile, and I don't want this to mess up. It's not like it's a poison, where I can deal with a few screw ups in the first batch. So, if you'd like to earn a silver rune or two and don't mind having green skin for the next two days if this doesn't work right, give me a call.

(OOC: Alchemical Potion Testing ahoy - The Potion isn't approved yet, but it's a testing phase, so if you want weird things to happen go for it. Be aware, however, that Samantha is attempting to make a magical aphrodisiac in time for Valentine's Day, so... ummm keep that in mind before volunteering them. ^.~, keep the threads PG-13 please.)

It's a perfectly normal thing, Henry. I keep several non-magical ones in stock at Pinch all the time. And there's no chance of those things happening. Swallow a grenade if you want something that nasty. My stuff isn't going to produce anything like that.

Heh. Well, I can't guarantee what this one will do. Might turn someone blue, might make their ears start smoking. Hard to say with some of these herbs. But I prefer to know if I have someone willing to drink dangerous chemicals before I talk about specifics.

Death by potion seems a poor way to die should the combination be deadly. Besides, I have no interest in an aphrodisiac. Perhaps there will be more opportunities to test these magical potions in the future, one that would interest me more.

I can put you down for the future, yeah. I haven't ever had anyone die from them, just so you know. They're not that potent. If you want deadly poisons, nightshade or lye work much better.

If it turns your skin green, then I need to reduce the number of fermented berries I'm using by one. I'm not sure on the dosage yet. Might want to bleach the skins a little more too...

Nothing too harmful. It's just hard to get the mix on these quite right.

Test it? I do that as is, but some potions you want multiple tests to be sure. Used to have a guy named Sherlock that helped out with that, but he's been gone for a while.

Make a magical aphrodisiac. Why?

Considering that I've read your other replies, I'm afraid I'll have to pass. But the TARDIS is right-perhaps you should have lead with the knowledge that it would be an aphrodisiac.

Eh? Oh, that. I don't even expect it to work properly right now. [She shrugged.] You two might have a point, but I'm used to people who test potions without asking what they do. The point isn't to have the effect. It's just to verify the thing does what it's meant to, or doesn't.

Paid guinea pigs, and for an effect that shouldn't last more than an hour or two, but yep. That's really all I'm asking for. However, if you're worried about a few other things, I pretty much have the right to veto someone I don't want risking the potion.
