[Samantha's letting the work she's been doing cool and still. The runes are just about ready now and the stones are all but fully placed into storage. She'll be sending a hand-written note to any of the conspirators still in the city to warn them that the weapon is fully prepared as of today.

But, it's no time like the present to return to a little side project she'd been accidentally 'inspired' to do by a certain other alchemist. It's been, along with the patrols, a good way to keep her mind off the fighting up north. There's, however, just a wee snag.]

So, whoever's still here. I know we're worried about Alfheim, but I figured some of us could use a distraction. I've got a favor to ask of one or two of you, if you're feeling daring.

I'm working on my latest potion, and I plan to unveil it in about a week, maybe two. Trick is that I really want to test it out before I go selling it. The stuff's a little volatile, and I don't want this to mess up. It's not like it's a poison, where I can deal with a few screw ups in the first batch. So, if you'd like to earn a silver rune or two and don't mind having green skin for the next two days if this doesn't work right, give me a call.

The temptation to slip nightshade in would be too high.

mmm? Oh, the potion? It's meant to enhance the person's sense of touch and make them more excited, focused. [She's stirring something in a beaker.] I'm kind of trying to make a magical aphrodisiac, since love potions don't work.

Hey, slip in whatever poison you want! That'll just add an extra kick, nya ha!

I see, perhaps you should lead with that. [There are some who shouldn't drink what could possibly be an aphrodisiac.] When there's one likely to turn someone blue, give me a call. I'll test that one.

Heh. Well, I can't guarantee what this one will do. Might turn someone blue, might make their ears start smoking. Hard to say with some of these herbs. But I prefer to know if I have someone willing to drink dangerous chemicals before I talk about specifics.

It would ruin the experiment, Henry. I'm trying to create something. And it's an aphrodisiac, if it works right.

Death by potion seems a poor way to die should the combination be deadly. Besides, I have no interest in an aphrodisiac. Perhaps there will be more opportunities to test these magical potions in the future, one that would interest me more.

I can put you down for the future, yeah. I haven't ever had anyone die from them, just so you know. They're not that potent. If you want deadly poisons, nightshade or lye work much better.

How many have you made so far? If I had a preference for killing, poisons would not be it.

Ohh. That's a weird thing to make. Still, I'll give it a shot if there's a good chance of organ meltage. Or spontaneous combustion! Ever seen someone's eyes catch fire? They scream in this really unique way!

Potions? [She went over to her chalk board with the current prices listed. They varied if shipment costs were changed from time to time. There were about nineteen potions listed, and she knew a few others she didn't advertise like the Silver Lotus.]

About twenty or so, or pretty close. Not all of them are poisons. They have a lot of uses. I haven't really done much with color, but I could make you something to turn your skin blue, I'm pretty sure. It's not that hard to duplicate.

It's a perfectly normal thing, Henry. I keep several non-magical ones in stock at Pinch all the time. And there's no chance of those things happening. Swallow a grenade if you want something that nasty. My stuff isn't going to produce anything like that.

Perhaps I'll come by and see them for myself.

If it turns your skin green, then I need to reduce the number of fermented berries I'm using by one. I'm not sure on the dosage yet. Might want to bleach the skins a little more too...

Nothing too harmful. It's just hard to get the mix on these quite right.

An explosive device. And the magic does things that other methods don't. Sleep potions, potions for breathing under water, potions that make people only speak in pig latin. It's not meant to do what cyanide does. That's what we have cyanide for.

Like an object hexed to explode? I've made those before, back home. Great for blasting feet off!

... and I've verified that most things like that don't work here. It's not something the herbs here have the power to do. And you bother with an aphrodisiac because people would use an aphrodisiac.

Not everyone's obsessed with death, you know.

That's too bad. And really? If you say so, I suppose you'd understand the market.

And I've noticed! Weird, huh? Can you really think of something better than a gory death? With blood and entrails and... man, good times.

Test it? I do that as is, but some potions you want multiple tests to be sure. Used to have a guy named Sherlock that helped out with that, but he's been gone for a while.
