How so much can change, and yet, there is still such familiarity in it all.

I find myself lacking in company tonight, friends. [His companions have been uncharacteristically quiet, though however unsettling that is--and it worries him greatly--he does not say.] And I find it would be remiss of me not to offer my own instead. Would anyone care to do me the honor of sharing drinks this evening?

You would hope to see me tied down so easily? Honestly, you sound like your--

[ABORT. ABORT. He manages to stop himself, clear his throat, and very quickly move on. Master of tact, this one.]

I am not in need of a wife. Do we not already have a friend who extols enough of marriage's virtues for us all already? Even if he did only wed her for the food, one can never be sure.

[No, Fandral, you do not get karma for a friend's vows. But it's worth a shot when so trying to avoid his own. Thor, please.

That is far from what I wish, my friend. I simply do not want to wake up in the morn with vows I cannot remember.

[Or commitment. Really, it's just commitment.]

The only vow worth giving, my prince, is that of a promise to follow you into Hel itself, should the need ever arise. Simple, easy to remember, and likely even easier accomplished.
