[ This being the horrific holiday jumper - hat and all - that he's wearing that's causing him to miss his aviator jacket terribly. It was an easier time, with that. ]

I look like an idiot. This is something Percy or Leo would wear. Probably as a joke, but still!

[ He's miserably tugging on the teddy bear, hoping by some miracle that it would fall off in his hands and that would mean that the whole thing would fall apart. Nico sometimes has a tendency to hope for too much, however, and all he does is cause a small tent in the jumper until he lets go and it flops back against him. ]

... Oh gods. My dad would kill me if he saw me wearing this. I haven't even been here long and this is what happens— Is this a normal thing? Stupid surprises that make me want to punch someone?

I'm sure it'll go away soon! Are these real candy canes?

I don't actually know. Didn't think to check. [ and so he tugs on one. ] ... It's real. That's kind of gross.

That's an interesting question, really. If stupid surprises happen here, ones that make you want to punch someone? I haven't been here all that long yet, just a month or so, but I'm starting to think the answer to your question is definitely yes. At least the change in wardrobe we're all stuck with doesn't hurt anyone, not like some of the other surprises.

That definitely makes me feel a lot better. I mean, if I'm going to be stuck here, I would really hope that it would be calm. But apparently not. I don't know what I was wishing for anyway. My life has just been one surprise after another, so I shouldn't expect anything better.

The surprises are... not atypical. Not normal either, exactly, but it's a good idea to get used to being on your toes. And suffering mild indignities.

If arrival counts as one of those "stupid surprises," I would say this is no coincidental pattern of...inconvenience.
