D372 // SOS video; open to Sigyn action
[ In between planning for a a IT team reunion, starting their own Detective Agency, contacting the other Persona users, his own issues with what his Shadow had told Naoto, keeping few jobs, talking with his friends, Souji had realized how much he wanted to put all of his energy into this effort. It almost came to him at a frightening rate, preparing, organizing, wanting to make as much of an impact as possible.
Nurture or burn. A decision must be reached...
He had the skill of growth. That would speak enough of what he believed in.
Again and again that early morning in the one of the lounges, he had plunged his hands into the small patches of dirt, willing the catnip seeds he had gotten into full-grown plants. On his left, a pile of small pouches Kanji had made for him that he could put to good use once he was done. The plants didn't have proper pots, just enough soil to grow. He could simply sweep it once he was done.
He continued, trying to figure out the best methods on how to make the seeds grow; if holding on to the root was best, or if he should push the energy into the stem. It was a learning experience he was determined to master.
And each day, he managed to do a little more.
Today, however, was a little different. In trying to beat his own record for the previous day, it was only when he realized he had no seeds left that he realized how many plants were now scattered around him. While he should be marveling in how more efficient he'd been...he had overspent himself.
With his energy drained in such rapid succession, he had felt his head grow dizzy, an urge to sleep for an hour or two as he laid down on the floor, just to close his eyes for what he assumed would be a few minutes. Even the cold hard floor seemed inviting, as he had used his right hand under his head as makeshift pillow.
He didn't have much time to think about it, as exhaustion had taken him.
...
What he hadn't realize in his plan was that perhaps he should have calculated catnip production according to how far the cats could smell...and certainly not in a common area. At first, it's just one curious little critter who walks in, sniffs at one of the plants and tentatively licks a leaf to---WOOOOOOOOW --okay it's just going to lay here next to the warm human and roll around for a bit?
Yeaaaah! This is great. Why chase rodent when you got this...
Oh look.
Cats!
More cats!
So....many cats...
The noise becomes louder as they all roll around and purr. Some come in thinking the other strays have found food before the smell hits them. In the end, dozens and dozens of felines are now all over the floor. It's a massive party of the feline kind.
Pretty soon, there's barely a trace of Souji under the cats that perch on him...some rubbing in his hair and clothing. All he knows is he feels there's a warm blanket around him...and smiles in his sleep.]

[What sordid scene is this aggressively blaring alarm on your bracelet about to lead into? Actually, with the blinds blocking out the worst of the mid-morning glare off the snow outside, you might have to strain your eyes a bit. However, the picture on the emergency feed can soon be recognised as a standard, sparsely decorated living room in one of the Welcome Hall flats. No problem here.
The sound is more likely to catch your attention first. Not Yosuke's own yelp just then - that noise was a bit too strangled to have any particularly arresting presence, although chances are it was at least loud enough to hear from out in the corridor. The ominous rumble underfoot and the incessant chorus of meowing, on the other hand...]
I, I don't... Someone... [He’s off-screen, but the stricken look on his face is pretty much audible.] Someone, help! What do I do!? The door was open, there's like a million cats in here, and I can't find my partner!

[The panning of the video across the room is as panicked as he sounds, and it's hard to catch any details in more than passing, but there are quite a few to be picked out by the keen-eyed: the flick of a tail here, a quivering whisker there, a flash of red-eye over there, the gleam of an unsheathed katana from the top of a nearby table, papers and books and small green leaves and spilled soil and piles and piles of tiny cloth pouches haphazardly strewn across what little of the floor isn't being rolled on, a bare human arm -
Yes, an arm in the middle of the whole mess, with cats of all shapes and sizes swarming, rolling, churning around it. There might be a person attached to it somewhere, but under the seething morass of agitated felines it's basically impossible to tell.]
Ugh, sheesh... I knew I should’ve said someth-
[And here, the camera finally comes to a stop. ...More or less. The picture is still trembling.]
Oh god, what...!?
[Then, weakly, it drops to Yosuke's side. Now there's nothing on the screen but his boots, wavering in and out of focus, still lightly dusted with snow - and, if you squint, a fair amount of cat hair.]
H-He's not getting up...!
[Down below, completely nonchalantly, a scruffy ginger tabby slips in through the open door, pads into frame and begins to gently rub up against Yosuke's leg. He makes no attempt to move it or anything else in the several long seconds before the feed shuts off.]

H-He's not getting up...!
[Down below, completely nonchalantly, a scruffy ginger tabby slips in through the open door, pads into frame and begins to gently rub up against Yosuke's leg. He makes no attempt to move it or anything else in the several long seconds before the feed shuts off.]
no subject
[She's a little shaky as she accepts that hand, but that's more from her terror than the scratches themselves. The pain from those will kick in later, when the adrenaline wears off.]
The poor cats... I didn't mean to fall on them, but...
[They're everywhere. Not that it'll stop her from feeling genuinely bad about nearly crushing them with that stumble.]
no subject
[He very nearly has a point - given how quickly that particular gaggle of cats managed to flee after she landed on them, it doesn't seem like she took a chunk out of anything except their dignity, and Yosuke knows from experience how long that can run on fumes.]
Look, I dunno if this is working... How about we just - uh - [He looks out over the milling strays, already filling the space left behind as well as every other space in the room besides, and almost falters. He can't even make out where Souji is lying in this cat conglomerate any more.] You find where he went, I'll haul him outta here, and let's never speak of this again. Deal?
no subject
[She nods, looking around. There's so many cats... where could he have gone?]
Wait... isn't that him, there?
[She points - there's a bit of clothing sticking out, but if Yosuke doesn't look fast enough, a cat's tail is just going to swoosh down and hide it again.]
no subject
[Too bad there have to be so many cats in the way. He does his best to slip around them, but just as he's rounding on Souji, an opportunistic calico furball rockets out at kneecap height from under the nearest table. Cursing, stumbling back, he slams a hand down on the top of the table for balance... about an inch away from the edge of that katana somebody must have left out earlier.]
no subject
[It's a high-pitched wail as she watches him stumble.]
Th-there's a sword! Be careful!
no subject
- okay, further sudden movements might not be such a good idea. Slowly, with exaggerated caution, he slides his hand off the table and steps away.
At which point he finally trips over a cat, because focusing too much on his hand to the exclusion of his feet might not have been a good idea either.]
Sh-!
[Down he goes, onto his back.]
no subject
Until she comes to a point where she's just stuck, with not a single space for her to move. Um.
Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all.]
A-Are you okay-?!
no subject
Still, he's had worse. Presently, painstakingly, he levers himself up until he's more or less sitting - a few stray leaves fall away from his hair - and looks blearily around him as he rubs his back.] Damn, we lost him again...
no subject
[There's just too much going on. There's still cats everywhere, they've lost track of Souji again... For now, she tries to focus on the one thing she can do.]
no subject
[He starts to brush some soil off his shoulder, then hesitates.] Hey, wasn't he somewhere over this way [he gestures] a minute ago? [So why is she hovering all the way back there...?]
no subject
I got stuck.
[The only option from here is to move back again, but that wouldn't help anyone...!]
no subject
Stuck. In cats.
[Instead, he tries to peer over. Yeah, wow, that's a lot of cats to be piled up in front of Hibiki by coincidence... But he thinks he catches a little flash of colour on the floor there, somewhere in between all of the paws.]
Umm... is one of the cat toys down there or something? Maybe you could... throw it...? [He trails off, because he seriously has no idea.]
no subject
[She looks around a bit, finally catching sight of the fabric. Carefully, caaaaaaaarefully she crouches down, reaching over to grab the toy.
Taking just as much care, she stands up straight again and looks around a bit before gently tossing it away from where Souji presumably is. The light thud is evidently enough to get the attention of at least some of the cats, because now a number of them are trotting on over to get it.]
It worked!
[She begins tip-toeing closer now that the wall of cats has diminished.]
no subject
[Wait, that's not what he was going to say out loud!]
Oh, um - good work, Hibiki-chan! Can you see him yet?
[Because Yosuke sure as hell can't. Then again, he's not exactly looking at the moment. If she's making her way over here, maybe it would be a good idea to do something about the katana poking over the edge of the table before she stabs herself with it...
Cautiously, he reaches behind him for the hilt.]
no subject
Weren't you the one who saw it?
[Derp. But her focus quickly moves to the rest of his words. Although she keeps walking, she's also frequently looking up to check and see if she can see anything.]
Umm... Not yet...
[-!]
Wait, I think I see something dark! Um. I can't really tell if it's fur or cloth, though...
no subject
no subject
[She points at a particularly large lump of cats, still trying to carefully make her way over.]
no subject
no subject
[Okay, after all of that, they're back at square one. Now what? Well, he can take a couple more cautious steps, trailing a little behind - but he can't go much further for now, not with these cats densely milling all around.
The katana blade scrapes on the hard floor beside him.]
Geez, why are so many of them stuck to him, anyway? Did he rub all the cat toys in his hair or something...?
no subject
[It's worth a try-?! After practically hop-scotching her way past the cats, she's finally able to get... closer. Even then, it's still a bit of a reach to even try touching his shoulder.]
Souji-san...! Souji-san, wake up!
