D372 // SOS video; open to Sigyn action
[ In between planning for a a IT team reunion, starting their own Detective Agency, contacting the other Persona users, his own issues with what his Shadow had told Naoto, keeping few jobs, talking with his friends, Souji had realized how much he wanted to put all of his energy into this effort. It almost came to him at a frightening rate, preparing, organizing, wanting to make as much of an impact as possible.
Nurture or burn. A decision must be reached...
He had the skill of growth. That would speak enough of what he believed in.
Again and again that early morning in the one of the lounges, he had plunged his hands into the small patches of dirt, willing the catnip seeds he had gotten into full-grown plants. On his left, a pile of small pouches Kanji had made for him that he could put to good use once he was done. The plants didn't have proper pots, just enough soil to grow. He could simply sweep it once he was done.
He continued, trying to figure out the best methods on how to make the seeds grow; if holding on to the root was best, or if he should push the energy into the stem. It was a learning experience he was determined to master.
And each day, he managed to do a little more.
Today, however, was a little different. In trying to beat his own record for the previous day, it was only when he realized he had no seeds left that he realized how many plants were now scattered around him. While he should be marveling in how more efficient he'd been...he had overspent himself.
With his energy drained in such rapid succession, he had felt his head grow dizzy, an urge to sleep for an hour or two as he laid down on the floor, just to close his eyes for what he assumed would be a few minutes. Even the cold hard floor seemed inviting, as he had used his right hand under his head as makeshift pillow.
He didn't have much time to think about it, as exhaustion had taken him.
...
What he hadn't realize in his plan was that perhaps he should have calculated catnip production according to how far the cats could smell...and certainly not in a common area. At first, it's just one curious little critter who walks in, sniffs at one of the plants and tentatively licks a leaf to---WOOOOOOOOW --okay it's just going to lay here next to the warm human and roll around for a bit?
Yeaaaah! This is great. Why chase rodent when you got this...
Oh look.
Cats!
More cats!
So....many cats...
The noise becomes louder as they all roll around and purr. Some come in thinking the other strays have found food before the smell hits them. In the end, dozens and dozens of felines are now all over the floor. It's a massive party of the feline kind.
Pretty soon, there's barely a trace of Souji under the cats that perch on him...some rubbing in his hair and clothing. All he knows is he feels there's a warm blanket around him...and smiles in his sleep.]

[What sordid scene is this aggressively blaring alarm on your bracelet about to lead into? Actually, with the blinds blocking out the worst of the mid-morning glare off the snow outside, you might have to strain your eyes a bit. However, the picture on the emergency feed can soon be recognised as a standard, sparsely decorated living room in one of the Welcome Hall flats. No problem here.
The sound is more likely to catch your attention first. Not Yosuke's own yelp just then - that noise was a bit too strangled to have any particularly arresting presence, although chances are it was at least loud enough to hear from out in the corridor. The ominous rumble underfoot and the incessant chorus of meowing, on the other hand...]
I, I don't... Someone... [He’s off-screen, but the stricken look on his face is pretty much audible.] Someone, help! What do I do!? The door was open, there's like a million cats in here, and I can't find my partner!

[The panning of the video across the room is as panicked as he sounds, and it's hard to catch any details in more than passing, but there are quite a few to be picked out by the keen-eyed: the flick of a tail here, a quivering whisker there, a flash of red-eye over there, the gleam of an unsheathed katana from the top of a nearby table, papers and books and small green leaves and spilled soil and piles and piles of tiny cloth pouches haphazardly strewn across what little of the floor isn't being rolled on, a bare human arm -
Yes, an arm in the middle of the whole mess, with cats of all shapes and sizes swarming, rolling, churning around it. There might be a person attached to it somewhere, but under the seething morass of agitated felines it's basically impossible to tell.]
Ugh, sheesh... I knew I should’ve said someth-
[And here, the camera finally comes to a stop. ...More or less. The picture is still trembling.]
Oh god, what...!?
[Then, weakly, it drops to Yosuke's side. Now there's nothing on the screen but his boots, wavering in and out of focus, still lightly dusted with snow - and, if you squint, a fair amount of cat hair.]
H-He's not getting up...!
[Down below, completely nonchalantly, a scruffy ginger tabby slips in through the open door, pads into frame and begins to gently rub up against Yosuke's leg. He makes no attempt to move it or anything else in the several long seconds before the feed shuts off.]

[action]
A swarm of cats invading the Welcome Hall is definitely not one of them. She steps gingerly around them, and huh, that is a lot of catnip. She follows one of the cats--a black one with a white spot on its neck--to one of the flats, and just. Stops in the doorway and blinks.]
...well. Whose bright idea was growing this much catnip?
no subject
[Okay, he didn't in so many words, but that's besides the point. When he turns to look at the new intruder, he starts again. Wait, is that a cast...!?]
Shit, did they get to you too!?
[The green hasn't even registered yet. Sorry, he might be a little on edge right now.]

[As long as he doesn't bring it up, she's not going to talk about it. No, instead she'll just be amused by the amount of cats in the room, and she's going to bend down to absently scritch behind the ears of the black cat she followed into the room.]

Uh... what... happened here?
[ What's with all the cats and... are all those catnap...?! ]
no subject
[But this time it's just a larger stray walking in and brushing against his leg before joining the throng.
He tries to take a deep breath. It doesn't help very much.] Look, just - put the glass down and help me pull him out! Souji's drowning in cats, here!
no subject
[ He carefully steps around a lone cat that came up against him, setting the glass down on a table. Coming back, he once again looks at the sea of fur... ]
Uh, maybe we should try to get rid of all these cats first... I can barely step around with them.

I'll be there in a second, just hold on!

[Actually, if she does turn up, he'll have pulled himself together just long enough to wade into the flood, but he's not making much headway. He's starting to worry that if he steps on too many of these busted-up cat toys, they'll all turn and start eating him alive...]

Do we look okay!? At this rate, he's gonna drown...!
[Okay, he might be panicking a little - but it's pretty clear from the video that the rippling ocean of cats has no plans to drain away any time soon.]

[ You're so lucky there's a dead body beneath those cats, okay, because you are a rude thing.
Wait.
No. What. ]
- Why was your distress call for a large number of cats and not the body buried beneath them?

Do you not have a spray bottle? Can you get a bucket of water?
[Barring that. Well.]
You think a dog might get them to disperse?
[Granted, his dog isn't that big and could possibly get scratched, but maybe if he had her just stand in the doorway and bark at obscenely loud levels, it would both get the cats moving and, quite possibly, wake up the owner of that arm. People don't just die from being covered in cats.
...unless they're allergic.]

[...Alright, at the end there he was sounding so close to manic it finally registered with him. He lets out a haggard, protracted sigh.] Ugh... And I dunno where the kitchens or anything are in this dump, either... What if something happens while I'm looking?

[action] /slips in unfashionably late
Better decide fast, some cats are already poking at her long and silky stole!]
... Hey, that's not for playing! Sorry!
never late!
[Too late. Now that a couple of the cats have noticed the new toy, several more are stampeding past Yosuke to claim it without any regard for the person attached. There's not quite enough silk to go around, either, so gradually more and more hisses are joining the ambient meowing in this part of the room.]
Aw, shit, they're out of control!
