2nd Special Operation/Text

If you don't mind me asking, when something attacks....is there any kind of group to protect the civilians and those who are otherwise unable to fight? A place they meet? I just can't imagine kids just standing unprotected....in my world, it was my job to help protect them. If there isn't something in place, I would be willing to lead a group. We'd need people who could fight as well as those who can make sure no one slips out, or to get the people ushered in. It'd be volunteer based, but....it's all I have. 

[It's been bothering her. Granted, she wasn't here when the Gentlemen happened, however, it's still concerning that they're fighting with civilians left in the streets to fend for themselves. There should be something in place, if there isn't. Her place had one, albeit flawed. There should be no exception here.]

Also...if I had a type of machine here and wanted a working replica, would it be possible? I would have to pay you, of course. I would be able to fight much better with that around.

Last big fight, we sent the people who couldn't fight to Folkvang and some of the armies protected it. The freeze... it was hard to coordinate anything, but Folkvang should still be a good spot.

And these armies....they were okay?

[She doesn't like trusting what she doesn't know, honestly. It'd be like trusting the Military Police with the Recon Corps job.]

That's why we should coordinate now. If something happens and we have a plan, it'll be easier than trying to do anything from scratch.]

The ones from Vanaheim and Alfheim? Yeah, they were pretty competent. Solid, just no powers. Then again, a lot of their forces don't have powers either, at least not the regular troops.

Either way, I agree, and I'll bet Arthur'd agree. Something to help make sure the folks that can't fight get to Folkvang in a big attack quickly. A plan.

Arthur's the one who's been commanding and training the city's army. You can find him at the Citadel most days, if you want to talk to him. He'd probably be glad to have some more help.

[He considers her other request.] I dunno if it'll work, but...you could ask someone who has the drawing life. They should be able to make the machine for you.

I might be able to help with your machine. It sounds like some kind of weapon from what you have said, but what kind?

It's a harness system, with two blades attached to a trigger device that shoots the lines out for the harness. It allows people to move in the air without worrying about falling over, or needing a platform. All someone needs is something to attach the lines to.

Does that make any sense? Someone from my world has one here, but I don'r have mine.

Impressive. I can not say I have ever seen anything like it, but I have worked with harness systems before.
You said a friend has one here? Would it be possible to see it?

If not I could just try sketching it while you watch and correct any mistakes made. I imagine we could recreate it.

I think it's battle by battle. The attacks come from different places, y'know? Maybe swing by the Citadel and have a chat with the guard, they organize that kind of thing.

If you want something built, that's my field of expertise. What's the machine?

It's Three-Dimensional Manuever Gear. It's a harness system with a trigger, so you can basically hook onto anything if you need to.

My commander has his here, would you be able to make another if I gave you his to look at?

[Even the graveyard had a rudimentary plan to escape or protect people. It would have worked, or so Connor tells himself, if Starkey hadn't of stolen the plane.]

I wasn't sure. I was gone for the last attack, and I've only been here for a month. They might not have the reinforcements to protect everyone, so that's why I'm asking. I'm not letting what happened back home happen here, if I can help it.

Making a decent guard or defence plan is difficult when people get sent home with no warning...

It's the same when people die all the time, too, but it worked in my world. We can only count on getting new recruits and keeping some veterans.

I'm sure you have heard of the Guard at this point, and may have even been referred to its leader or to the Citadel. [He pauses a moment, thinking it over further.]

What Travellers need understand is that rarely are the battles exactly alike. We face the same enemies, but those enemies have vastly differing methods and as of now, have unleashed magics we were unprepared for because the Travellers did not know of them.

Battles are really never alike, I'm aware. But, with a basic plan in place, we have something to start with.
