[Ritsuka rubs at his eyes. Around him are a serious amount of books all checked out from the library. His ears are bent down, his tail swishing.]

How typical are those... things like the Gentleman in this place? And don't give me the "we're in the war, expect dangers."

[Ritsuka had gone camping which had been a mistake as he was still picking dirt out of his tail. But apparently staying here would have been a worse offer. He has so many questions about this place he's been dragged to. He rubs at his eyes, wishing his glasses had come with him to this world. He wondered if they had an optometrist.]

Oh... I thought you had... never mind. Yeah, they'll have to attack eventually.

Yup. I mean, they are all the same person with the same memories, just some are further along so they remember more. So I guess it makes sense they have the same name?

That's why I'm keeping my gun with me. Just in case. I don't think I could hurt them with my healing power here.

Well, they are all the Doctor, some just remember more of what has happened back home than others. You know, the different times thing, where people can be brought here and remember more or less than others from home? That sort of thing. But it's easy to tell them apart, they all look different.

You should have some power here the gods gave you though?

Yeah, but it tends not to be the same person, does it? That's why there aren't two of you running around. But this sounds like it's the same person.

Did that work on these Gentlemen?

It is! I mean, basically. I think he could explain it better though.

I don't think so? I hear it was screaming, finding the boxes they hid people's voices in that stopped them?

Then what use is a power when it can't do anything to actually protect you? Ugh, useless... again. [He's mumbling to himself.] Did anyone try a gun against them, or a blade or anything?

And I'm not sure. I wasn't there otherwise I might have tried to shoot them.

If shooting them didn't work, I think it's a moot point about owning a weapon for things like that.

Really? It would still help make me feel a bit safer. Lee taught me to use it and gave it to me.

You were wanting to talk to a Doctor? We...well, most of us...like to answer questions. Though, Clementine was very good at explaining.

I wouldn't exactly say "wanting," but sure.

How exactly are you all here though?

Well, I can't say exactly, because I'm not quite sure what method the gods used to pluck each one of us out of our respective points in our time line, but I suspect it's possible here because it's always been possible back home.

[He makes a face at himself.]

I'm sorry, sometimes I have a hard time explaining. We're all the same man, but we each have enough of our own personalities to be separate entities here in Asgard.

How... are you all the same person?

A little quirk of Time Lord biology. A method of extending our lives. When we're about to die, we...change. Every cell. We get a whole new body and a few alterations to our personality. So, deep down we're the same, we just look different and, barring a few fundamental pieces of our personality, act different.

.... Why would you want to live that long?

Oh, well...when you can go anywhere in time and space, you'd want the time to be able to see it all, wouldn't you?

[His smile is slightly weak, because frankly he's not sure he likes living this long anymore. It would be horrible to say, however, as that would be tantamount to wishing his future selves were never "born".]

It's not so much a choice anymore, really. Regeneration is in our blood. We just...do it. I suppose we could choose not to regenerate if we really wanted to, but that's extremely rare. And there's a chance that we can be killed too quickly for regeneration to happen, but we don't go around trying to get killed like that.

[But you literally can't, he thinks. Unless...] So you're capable of living for trillions of years by regenerating? [Why would you WANT TO!?]

Er... so you just have infinite amounts of regenerating until you finally decide it isn't worth doing anymore?

Oh, ah...no, I don't think it goes quite that far. Though, I think thousands of years is enough, don't you?

The general rule is thirteen lives, but I have heard of people wasting all their lives and finding ways to keep going.

I wouldn't want to even live for a hundred, honestly.

Do you regenerate just from old age?

Most Time Lords do, since most of them stay home and don't do anything interesting.

I...um...have a rather more dangerous life. I did die of old age, once. My first body, but then I suppose the running around when my body was so old didn't help. Most of the time I've died from a fatal injury.

Probably best not to give a list of all the ways. I think my two earlier incarnations would probably not like to hear how they'll die.

If you tend to die... er... regenerate due to dangerous situations, why keep seeking that out?
