While there are many myths throughout my life I have found to have a root in truth, I had not expected Asgard to be a place I would ever visit. Being fresh from my home world, I long to return. From what I've been lead to understand, frequent and consistent social interaction is the most basic of ways to ensure that happens. And so I reach out to you, fellow victims.

I have read some of what's available to view on this network. It seems as though possessions occurred recently, and a grave tragedy was involved. I would like to offer my condolences to the respective parties. And while I understand the need to focus on lighter things in the wake of such tragedy, it disturbs me greatly to know that this Thiazi is capable of such things while all of our native powers have been replaced. How are we to defend ourselves against an assault on the mind stripped of the very capabilities needed to do so? 

I understand this is not a choice for Asgard's gods, but I challenge them: you are the ones who brought us in; you are the reason we are here. How do you plan to defend us against further assault? We are a precious resource to you. Surely, we are worth defending. Surely, we are worth taking action for instead of simply waiting for reaction to be necessary, and then stepping in. Surely, you have a plan.

[Harry doesn't even hesitate before he responds. This isn't supposed to happen. The fact that he speaks of possessions and speaks of condolences just irritates him further. Voldemort doesn't know of anything related to that. Harry knows that for a fact.

He can't, of course, tell that Voldemort is younger. That much is not obvious.]

What do you know of condolences?

[Well yeah but Harry they don't know that.

He recognizes the name, of course, from earlier posts that he has read. He recognizes this boy as the one to start an owlery, so clearly inspired through Wizarding World influence. He knows this person is a wizard, and in fact, even liked some of what this boy was saying. The reaction this boy is giving him, however, is enough to make him curious.]

Enough.

[A pause, as if considering, and then:]

Do you know me?

[He doesn't know him. He doesn't become angry at the sight of the name "Harry Potter." He hand nervously reaches up over the scar on his forehead. There is no longer a connection there, a tie between him and Tom Riddle, the man who ruined so much, who claimed himself as Voldemort.

Harry is thankful that he shows up as "Lord Voldemort" on here. It makes things easier, and streamlines explanations that otherwise would have to happen.

The reply comes quickly enough, because he doesn't want to seem as if he's hesitating.]

No, but I think it's rich that you're speaking of condolences and blaming it on the gods when you don't know them. It sounds as if you don't know what you're speaking about at all. It makes me realise that you're new, when those of us affected by it haven't asked for anything like that.

Many have asked these questions as you can imagine. Yet the answers to those you would never find as the deities answer only the question that they favor, while those of value go unanswered. they have more weaknesses than strengths and very few plans while Thiazi has many.

irony is more common in this city than disasters.

You are foolish not to. Do you believe yourselves capable of defending yourselves against this sort of attack again? Are you so arrogant to believe the suffering you and yours underwent won't happen again? Or that you'll be able to stop it? You yourself said that you believed a more offensive strategy would be wise. I agree with you.

And I am new. I've already admitted to that. You seem upset, though. Do you have reason to defend the gods from taking on the responsibility they should have taken on to begin with?

[His eyes rest on her name for a moment, taking in the implications with a breath before answering.]

That is unfortunate. I confess myself disappointed if it proves to be true, though I will allow them a chance to answer mine as I have only arrived.

Very few have considered the limitations that they may have placed on themselves. Their people are not able to have power, nor are we, because of the grey sickness that's throughout the city. I've seen proof that they are doing everything that they can, but it's very obvious that it's not enough.

That's where the offence comes in.

Just the same, it is not the gods who attacked the bracelets or Loki. It was Thiazi. It is Thiazi who wishes to destroy our worlds, and who has made the gods desperate enough to act in this way. They are not only hoping to save our worlds, but everyone's.

I think you would be wise to inform yourself before you ask questions. What we say on these bracelets is not the only means of information.

[He does blame the gods to some degree now. For not controlling their magic. For having a spell that brought in his mother and father only so they could get hurt many more times before their eventual deaths.

But he dislikes Voldemort far more. Far, far more.]

but now I will be blamed to be quite without manners and a terrible pessimist. A Lady would welcome you to our city and offer you grand hopes in pretty words.

Then please, direct me to this information. Certainly you cannot blame me for my ignorance. I have been ripped from my home, stripped of the abilities I was born with, to learn that not only my world is in grave danger, but all of them, all within a very short amount of time.

I assure you I understand the difference between pessimism and realism well, my Lady, and the latter is much appreciated, as well as your frankness.

[ Freyr's expression is soft, sympathetic when he answers. He prefers video, obviously, but he won't balk should this boy choose to continue communicating in text. ]

We do as much as we can, and look endlessly for ways to do more. We shield your physical bodies here from the illnesses of this world - the gray and otherwise - and your souls and minds from the flood of magic that would drive you utterly mad in an instant. We shield you from this, and from the elements, provide food and money for spending.

[ He only hesitates for a moment, before continuing: ]

It's not much. It's not enough, and we know that. It grieves me every day that we cannot do more, but keeping you as safe as we have is harder than most will ever let you know.

There's no point in reasoning with him. He's only saying this to turn them against you and to gain people who will believe he actually cares for other people. He does not.

[ And he seems taken off guard by that. ]

He is from your world, then. -- regardless, the point he raises isn't a poor one.

Of course it isn't. He has always been very good at seeking out weak points. But for him and that other person to claim that you don't answer questions—that's a lie.

[Oh, how sweet. How pitiable, this tale of sacrifice for the good of the kidnapped. It makes Voldemort sick.

For obvious reasons, he'll stick with text.]

So all of your energy is spent on the most basic of necessities we take for granted. Therefore, anything more than that is out of your power level.

[Basically, they're no less better off than those drawn in, and it aggravates Voldemort. It angers him that in this realm, the only power is that of the ice witch intended on doing them harm. It's at this point he decides he must learn more about her, must seek out power of his own however he may have to get it.]

I would thank you for taking the time to answer.

Many people think that. They get caught up in their own lives, here.. it's an easy mistake.

If you choose to see it that way, yes. Bringing you here - facilitating your mere existence in this world - is a feat that should not have been possible at all. The power it takes to draw someone from their own world, to link our souls to theirs - it is nothing short of incredible.

[ His voice is a low, lyric murmur. ]

But should there be anything you ever need, please never hesitate to ask.

That argument hasn't worked yet, and trust me, we've been trying for a long time. But knock yourself out.

What'd they lift from you? Mutation, magic, transformation? There's a hell of a list around here.

Despite being powerless, despite putting on a polite air that isn't really Him, despite the aggravating situation of powerlessness, despite not getting to choose, he cannot deny an inherent sort of glee at being able to introduce himself as he would like, and to Lady Morgana no less. Here, he can use this name, and in fact has to (but he doesn't dwell on that fact). Here, there's no tiptoeing around, trying to find the right way to become. Here there are entirely different rules, and one of those rules insists on this name.]

I am Lord Voldemort.

Something tells me that this isn't a simple mistake. He doesn't make mistakes like that.

Would you rather die?

It so happens I have another question, as something you've said intrigues me. The process of linking a soul must require a great deal of power. I am curious, I admit, as to how exactly it works.

[And more importantly: what it means for his Horcruxes.]

Magic, as it happens. Magic most powerful, in fact, and I feel the loss of it greatly.

Of course not, but the threat of death is not enough to make me take this quietly, or happily. The threat of death is not enough to make me give up this sort of questioning, when in fact questioning is so often a vital part of finding solutions. I have no intention to die, and in fact, very much intend to help the gods in any way I can in order to assure that will not happen, but that does not mean I have to merely accept these new limitations as law without seeking to understand first.
