This is a human body, it's not my original one.

My original body is Adam, whom humans also called "Giant of Light".

...how did you even obtain this body then?

Through an experiment humans called "Contact Experiment". They found Adam in a comatose state in Antarctica and proceeded to fuse human DNA from an unknown donor with it. This caused Adam to awaken and it tried to destroy humanity so Angels could take Earth once more.

[ Kaworu moves a bit, as he searches for something in his room. Eventually he grabs this, to show it to Draco ]

The team managed to subdue it, but they caused Adam to be thorn apart: its body returned to the state of embryo [ his fingers trace the litle being encased inside the orange substance. Yup, that's Adam's embryo. ] and its soul was placed inside a vessel by the name of Tabris; half human, half angel.

They gave this vessel the human name "Kaworu Nagisa".

So...this body is you, but that thing is also you? But neither of them are actually you because you're a giant experiment. Is that what you're trying to tell me? Because you have to realize how odd that sounds.

That's correct.

They are both me, but neither is completely me. I lack half of myself - my body - and the body [ kaworu touches the small embryo ] lacks its half as well, the soul I carry. When joined together, we become one and whole.

So how long do you have to wait to ever actually return to your original state? Or is that absolutely no longer an option?

If I join Adam again, it will reawaken and begin the destruction of all living beings in order to take the planet for the Angels.

No. Angels and Lilim aren't meant to inhabit the same planet. And one will aim to erase the other. All children of Adam were killed to prevent Adam's reawakening. [ so was he ]

Isn't that essentially just another form of genocide that only benefits one side?

Yes, it is.

While Lilim erased us to ensure their survival, because they feared us or hated us, Angels simply wanted to become one with Adam. Erasing Lilim was simply a consequence of that; most of us harbored no feelings towards Lilim.

Yes, they did. To join Adam and Lilith, the one who created Lilim. For all to become one.

But that way was rejected in the end. But it should not have happened, either.

Why was it rejected though?

Because you can't accept it. [ lilim, that is ]

If Adam and Lilith joined as one, everyone would be one. The flaws in every living being would be complemented by the strengths in others, the insecurities in people's hearts would be erased, no one would ever perish and everyone would understand everyone.

But Lilim would lose something: individuality. All souls would be gathered and united as one. This would create an existence where nobody existed singularly, but merely as part of the whole.

Yes. Not being understood because you are an individual different from anyone else, being hurt by other individuals, hurting for other individuals; those things bring you pain.

But there is good about your individuality. The happiness you find in others, that you have for others and because of others. The fact that you are able to experience unique thoughts and feelings that make you glad to be who you are. And the fact that you can always overcome your flaws on your own, allowing you to be more than who you are right now.

And this is why you will reject an existence without individuality. And this is why in my world, it was rejected as well.

And this is exactly what you've been trying to tell me all along, isn't it? This is what you were trying to say the first time we discussed it. [Mind=officially blown.] I think I understand.

It's difficult to understand even when I think I understand it. How does anyone from your world accomplish anything when it's so confusing?

It's something they have to understand for themselves. A lot of people do, they just don't specify it like that.

"I'm happy that I'm with you" is a form of happiness individuality brings, for example.

So what would be the opposite of something like that?

"It hurts that you are gone", perhaps.
