Video - Day 319

[There's a face that might be familiar to some people appearing onscreen. It looks a little less perky than it usually does and seems to be needing a moment before actually speaking.]

Hey. I don't know what happened, but I could swear I'd gone home for a while. But I'm back here again and... yeah.

I guess a few people missed me, judging by the messages waiting for me. I'll get to those in a bit, but I thought I'd let everyone know I'm back. Scott... I guess I'll see you when you've got some time. I hope things have been quiet and I have no idea how long I've been gone, so any heads up on that would be appreciated.

[He came over to sit on the bed, looking over at Scott and trying to figure out what to tell him. He didn't want to see the look he knew he'd get if he told him the full story, but he was his best friend. Keeping secrets from him was not his specialty.]

For the most part.

[Other than Boyd being dead. That wasn't something he wanted to break to him.]

Stiles. [ You can't give him an answer like that. This is Scott. He has to know everyone is okay. ]

It's a lot of pressure, okay? There's a lot, like... a lot to catch you up on. And I just...

[He sighed, hands lifting to scrub at his face.]

Maybe you'll be better off not knowing?

[mccallmemaybe]

[ Scott could understand where Stiles was coming from. Scott was already behind before, now even more had happened. He was probably better off waiting and experiencing it for himself. ]

Can you at least tell me something good that happens? Does anything good happen?

[Good. Good. What good things happened?]

Um... I don't have to lie to my dad anymore.

He knows?!

[ Scott didn't hear that last part. Stop mumbling and speak up, husbro. ] What?

After being stabbed, kidnapped, and almost sacrificed? Yeah, he knows. And you. You're an Alpha now.

[ The sheriff got what?

He's a WHAT?

But if he's an Alpha... that means he's going to kill someone.

Scott feels like throwing up.

...Yep, he's definitely going to throw up. Watch Scott get up from the bed and run to the bathroom. ]

[Hey. Where's he going? Stiles gets up to follow him, but pulls back at the door when he hears the retching.]

Whoa. See? See?! This is why I don't know what to tell you. I didn't think you'd throw up, man. Why are you throwing up? That's seriously the least of everything that happened.

[mccallmemaybe]

[ See, that sounds like Scott killing someone is the least of what happens. ] Because I'm gonna-- [ oops, there goes lunch into the toilet bowl! ] --kill someone. I don't wanna-- [ more hurling! ] --kill someone, Stiles.

What? No...

[He comes into the bathroom, running some cold water and getting the face cloth wet before wringing it out. He came over and put it on the back of Scott's neck, then started rubbing his neck.]

No, man. You don't kill anyone. You're this 'true Alpha' deal. You become an Alpha by some sort of puppy butt-face merit.

[mccallmemaybe]

What? [ That comes out as a groan as he leans his forehead against the toilet seat. But okay, that's pretty nice when Stiles starts rubbing his neck. Keep doing that. ] I don't get it... What's a true Alpha?

[teenyoda]

[Poor Scott.]

It's some kind of rare Alpha, which is why Deucalion had such a boner for trying to get you in his pack. You became an Alpha by being... well, you. That whole 'do the right thing' mentality actually came in handy.

And uh, Derek's a Beta now. And he left. With Cora. His younger sister who didn't die in the fire but was stuck in a vault with Boyd and Erica before Erica...

[Well, before Erica died. At least he knew how, now.]

It was really a rough few months, Scott. Once school started, it all just fell apart again. But the bright side is that it got better?

[Except for Erica and Boyd.]

[ It still didn't make sense to Scott, how he can become an Alpha by... well, being himself. But he's glad he doesn't kill anyone at least. ]

What's a Deucalion? [ Not what, Scott, who. ] Derek's a Beta? He has a sister who survived the fire? Are you gonna tell Derek?

[ Scott took the cloth off his neck to wipe his face with it. ] Sorry for making your bathroom stink.

That's why they invented these nifty little things called 'toilet flushing' [Which he reached over and did.] and 'deodorizer'. [Which every bathroom that had two guys sharing it had. Spritz spritz.

But he kept rubbing small circles over Scott's back while his friend cleaned off his face.]

Deucalion's a who, but he's also a giant dick. He made this all Alpha pack and they came for Derek and... well, it wasn't pretty. Boyd's dead. They're the reason Erica's dead.

[He sighed, then moved back to lean against the counter, hand over his face for a moment.]

There's a lot of deaths. And no, I don't know if I'm going to tell Derek. He might take it like I was trying to be a dick on purpose and, surprise, surprise, I don't actually hate him so much anymore.

[mccallmemaybe]

[ Oh. Right. Scott forgot to flush. The dummy. ]

Great, another dick. [ Like they needed another one of those in Beacon Hills. Gerard was enough, thanks.

After wiping his face, Scott looks at Stiles sadly at the mention of Boyd's death. ] Boyd's gone? [ Damn it... Scott rests his head back against the toilet miserably. ] Isaac's gonna be crushed... [ Even though Isaac seemed closer to Erica, definitely here, he and Boyd were pack. ]

My mom's okay though, right? And Allison? And Isaac?

[teenyoda]

[Oh, guess who wasn't touching the Isaac/Allison thing with a hundred foot pole? He'd seen that look at Deaton's and he'd seen the way Scott had reacted. Yeah, he'd been cool with it there, but that was after a summer and a few months of school to get used to the idea of not being with her. Here? It would kill him.]

Yeah, yeah. Your mom's okay. My dad's okay. Allison and Isaac are okay. We're fine, Scott. Before I came back here, things were actually... good. Finally. Oh, but...

[He looked down at his feet, twisting his toe into the ground before looking back up at Scott.]

Your dad's back in town.

[mccallmemaybe]

[ Scott lifts his head from the toilet seat to look at Stiles, hoping the mention of his dad being back in town is some kind of bad joke, but Stiles' face looks deadly serious.

He looks away and stares at the wall for the longest time, just thinking. Thinking about his mom. ]

Did he talk to you? [ Still staring at the wall. ]

[teenyoda]

[Stiles laughs, something short and sharp as he nods.]

Yeah, he did. And I pretty much told him to fuck off.

[There was no love found for Agent McCall in the Stilinski house. Especially not from Stiles. He'd been over at his friend's house enough times to see the way Scott had been devastated by the divorce and they'd both heard his mom crying a few times because of it. That had sort of solidified the 'Scott's dad's a dick' mentality.]

[ Scott finally looks away from the wall to smiles at Stiles. If his eyes are a little watery it's because of how much he appreciates his best friend and how grateful he is for having him in his life. ]

That's why I love you. [ Because Stiles practically tells his dad to fuck off when Scott is too nice to do it himself. ]

[teenyoda]

Just for that? And here I thought it was because of my awesome bod.

[He held a hand down to help Scott up, giving him a wistful smile.]

Growing up kind of sucks, doesn't it?

Oh, that too.

[ Scott takes Stiles' hand. Once he's standing, he looks around for mouthwash because ew, vomit breath. ]

Yeah... I miss the days when the biggest thing I had to cry about was ice cream I accidentally dropped on the floor. [ Little, insignificant things. ]

[teenyoda]

[Stiles gestures to his toothbrush if Scott wanted. Hey, they were family. They could swap spit without actually swapping spit.]

Or skinned knees and not werewolf bites, right? Yeah, it got real messed up back home, Scott.

[He leans against the counter, a picture of Heather's face on the morgue slab flashing in his mind. He sighed and rubbed at his forehead.]

And I hate to be a bummer, but I think I got pulled back here just before another shit storm.

[ He's borrowed Stiles' toothbrush before back home but using it after he's been sick feels wrong somehow, so he sticks to mouthwash, gurgling it and spitting it back out again. ]

What else is there?

A lot. A lot I don't want to think about, but it's too late. And the fact that we did something that came with a sort of... you're screwed anyway clause.
