ℒ☜ - 06 Codex
[After much fiddling and many failed attempts... Leonardo finally manages to get a few messages to send to their intended targets, but this was only possible it seemed as a group message viewable to all. Darn these malfunctioning bracelets!]
Quali cose fastidiose...
It seems I have little choice, if I want to contact everyone I need to then the message must be open to all.
First, some one here in Asgard did order bracers for a wagon. If this is you they are complete and ready to be attached. I just... seem to have lost the note saying who they were for.
[Embarrassing, but there had just been a battle. Things were bound to be scrambled. ]
And second, I should apologize for disappearing during the battle. Apparently my living through a few years at home was deemed more important than my helping with the machines. Were they of any use at all or were they too much trouble?
[Leonardo waved a hand in the air as if writing invisible notes before answering his own question.]
They may have been too complex... Maybe a simpler machine that could do more damage would work better.
[He does have in mind a kind of armored wagon with canons. Built correctly it should be accurate and deadly. He just needs to work out the details of this tank... ]
It really feels like I have been away longer... But Loras? I have finished that painting. I said you would be given the chance to see it when it was complete, so... I think you are still here, and well? If you are you could stop by the workshop sometime to see it?
[And this might be a pretense just to get you to show up but hey, not going to advertise that.]
Beyond the buildings being torn up and things in disarray I hope all is well with everyone? And, I apologize again if you received a strange message from me. I did not notice the bracelets were malfunctioning until I had already sent so many messages out.

audio;
It's no surprise, but luckily you are free from those types here. The natives in this world all seem to be good-natured whenever they request for a certain item from you.
[Then at the next part of Leonardo's words, Soushi will look quite interested as he allows an "Oh" to pass by his lips. Look how excited he is!]
What do you have in mind?
audio;
Loras has had so many people do the same for him, I am not sure he would find my work any more compelling than theirs.
[Classic case of nerves. He was intending a confession of sorts so the anticipation was making him moody.]
But, grazie Soushi. Of course I would tell you what happened.
[In the time they had come to know each other Leonardo did feel like Soushi could be trusted with almost anything. Which was why he didn't even hesitate to speak of things that, to most people, he would keep hidden. ]
You remember the message that I accidentally sent to you? About...
[A glance around the room to make sure they were alone. ]
About the Apple? It is a strange object that showed me visions of unimaginable things! Soushi, there was this machine. It was covered and... I think people must have ridden inside of it. It must have been a machine of war. I do not know what to call it, but I thought if I could make something like that here in Asgard it might be a help.
[In other words, Leonardo wants to build a tank! Renaissance style of course.]
audio; > private
[He had a feeling over the matter of Leonardo feeling quite nervous in meeting the other individual. It would be best not to allow his nerves get the better of him neither. So, instead, Soushi will listen to Leonardo further.]
Yes, I do remember.
[How can he forget having slightly teased his friend? It was the most fun he had in a while. But even so, he will continue to listen to Leonardo's excitement over the matter. An "ahh" will escape his lips once he realized what he was exactly speaking of.]
It sounds like a wonderful idea! A machine that can heavily protect those against the Giants and other enemies would be of great use! It might even offer us a better chance to defend ourselves.
[Then again, he had a feeling Leonardo will build a version from his times than the ones from his. It might be for the best. After all, the tanks of his time are too advanced and would need special training to operate them. A requirement that maybe no one can fill.]
Leonardo-san, please give me a moment, I wish to ask you one more question.
[And with that, Soushi will change their line from public to private as he decides to ask.]
You said, a moment ago, an Apple had given you the idea. How so? Are there magical items in your world?
audio; > private
[Naturally, his machine would be more something he understood, gears and wood instead of gas power and steel but improvements could always be made if others had ideas on that. Like the last time he would build the machine he was more familiar with and tweek it as nessacary.
Once again Soushi saves him. He nearly made a critical error of speaking too openly about certain things from home. He likely would have forgotten to make his response private just as he had forgotten and mentioned the Apple in the last response.]
No, it is not magical. At least, I do not think it is. It is actually a very ancient piece of technology, but far more advanced than anything I have ever seen.
Are you familiar with the story of Adam and Eve?
audio; > private
[Once the idea was out in the open and their conversation was private, Soushi will listen to Leonardo's explanation of the Apple that grants wisdom. It wasn't magical, but an advance piece of technology instead?]
How fascinating. I have never heard of a piece of technology quite like it. [Then he realizes:] Am I correct to believe that only a select few know of the existence of this piece of technology? [Or else, Leonardo would not be so secretive about it.]
Adam and Eve? I do believe they are part of a Christian story, aren't they? [Well, at least he recognize their names, but as for the story.] I believe it has something to do with a snake, an apple, and a holy punishment for their sins...? [Uhhh. He knows pieces of it.] ...am I thinking of the correct story?
audio; > private
[If one were looking they could almost see the mental wheels turning as Leonardo sat back in his chair and stroked his beard.]
It would be more stable with six... and the belt could make it possible to move all of the wheels at once... That is an idea! I will have to do a few sketches to work out how the gears would connect, but this will be something I try. Grazie Soushi!
[The belt concept had not occurred to him, but now that he thought back on it the image he was shown did have something on it that could have been a set of wheels covered in a belt. ]
Si, you have heard the story! The Apple of Eden was a very tempting fruit that gave anyone who ate it great knowledge, but also cast them from Eden. The Apple is much like that, it is probably why it gained the name. It can grant vast amounts of knowledge to people but it also has a dark side. Some one could become obsessed with it and it can control weak minds.
[As Soushi correctly guessed.]
Very few people know about it. Since it is so powerful it is better that way. But, here in Asgard... I doubt it could do much damage.
audio; > private
As he listens to Leonardo's explanation over the apple and its side effects, Soushi will remain interested as he found it quite intriguing. But there was one piece of information that capture his full attention.]
It sounds as though the apple found its way to Asgard. [Then he adds:] ...it is best to treat the object with caution, regardless. Even if, its technology is too advance for Asgard's current setting, but the deities might activate it to try and entice you and those from your world to use it. [As he has learned through experience, it is best to never lower your guard especially delicate matters as Leonardo spoke of.] It is best to keep an eye on it while keeping distance of it. Just in case.
audio; > private
[So Soushi will have to deal with it. It was a good idea, if he can figure out how to work it in he just might... but he doesn't know the idea isn't Soushi's. He has learned much about modern technology but not everything yet.
Undone by a bit of wording. Yes, Soushi's talents as a member of his world's SS were readily apparent today! Leonardo had not said the Apple was here, he was not even entirely sure that it was but... he did have his suspicions about it since both of its protectors were here.]
I know you will be discrete about this so I will say that we do not need to worry about it. If the Apple is here it is in safe hands.
[There was no safer place for something than in the Den of the Assassins. They would not allow it to be used by the wrong sort of person.]
audio; > private
[Leonardo's scolding will have Soushi keep quiet from saying anything else. If they were speaking through video, then Leonardo would notice imaginary fox ears lowering as he offers a pitiful expression, even if it does seem serious at the moment.
Although, he does have to admit the following:]
...thank you.
[He would have bombarded Leonardo with compliments for his kindness, but he knew it would be brushed off nor did he have the heart to use his flattering skills as much as he used to now. He felt more comfortable acting as himself now. To the point of allowing his observation skills to be, well, more skilled than usual. He can now be an SS without Leonardo feeling suspicious of him.]
There is no reason to discuss this matter with anyone else. Your world's secret will remain as so. [As for the items being protected, Soushi will realize there might be SS types in Leonardo's world. From the way he spoke, someone he trusted was keeping the item safe. A more gentle tone of voice will be used as he realized it.] I see. The item is not under your care. [There will be some relieve to that because he does not like the idea of Leonardo holding a dangerous item in his possession. He would have hidden the darn object, otherwise.] Will you inform me if the item ever falls into your hands, Leonardo-san? I wish to help keep it safe if it ever does, so you do not have to carry the burden alone.
audio; > private
I would be surprised if it fell to me to watch over, but si, if it does I will tell you about it.
[There would be so many assassins watching over the object if it were here, how could it not be safe with Masters like Ezio and Altair watching over it?
Hmm... one day he would have to introduce Soushi to his friends.]
Thank you Soushi. It is nice to know I could rely on you if anything like that happened.
audio; > private
An item as the one you have spoken of, I could not simply allow to turn a blind eye to it, Leonardo-san. As your assistant, I will do everything I can to help you which includes offering my protection as well. It is a service that I only offer to those I am most loyal to. [Which he means to say, Leonardo is his friend, so he will protect him as much as he would for his master. Well, he wouldn't manipulate him, at least.] I am indebted to you, so it is the least I can do -- protect you as much as I am able to. As long as I live, I will continue to do so.
audio; > private
Now that he thought of it he really got into trouble often...
But, no one had even made a declaration quite like that before.
As long as he lived he would protect those he was most loyal to...
Leonardo was speechless.]
Soushi... I do not know what to say. Thank you, my friend. I am touched.
audio; > private
The gratitude was more than enough to make him feel somewhat shy over the matter as he was not used to friendship. Or at least, the genuine kind without any strings attached.]
...I owe you a great deal of gratitude towards you, Leonardo-san. Please do not think anything of it.
[And just as he had said that, he will quickly remind the other man.]
I'll be arriving to your workshop shortly. If there are other chores that need attending to, I would recommend to prepare a list, so I can get it done before your meeting with your very important client today. [Was there a sign of some teasing in there? Maybe.]
audio; > private
[Might add a few more tasks to that list for the teasing! ^,^]
And Soushi... I am not very skilled with protecting people, but if there is ever anything I can do for you I would return the favor and help you without question.
[So, if you ever need something drawn to life, a guard distracted, or a place to hide a body... you know where to turn. ]
audio; > private
[fffff. Leonardo, are you really that sly underneath it all? Although, he won't mind as he is curious to take a peek at the man who has caught his friend's interest.
At Leonardo's offer, Soushi will grow silent as he begins to realize the implications behind his words. He was not shock by the offer, but he was somewhat curious to learn if his friend had any experience over the matter. However, he will not ask as he will not pry into his life outside of Asgard and...he was touched by the offer because it meant that he truly did have someone to trust in.]
...of course. I will always keep you in mind, Leonardo-san. You are the only person I trust who is fully human. I know you always will be there to support me. [Because he has done many times all ready. There is a reason behind him having confided in him as much as he did.]
audio; > private
Addio, Soushi. I will see you when you arrive.
