It seems I have little choice, if I want to contact everyone I need to then the message must be open to all.

First, some one here in Asgard did order bracers for a wagon. If this is you they are complete and ready to be attached. I just... seem to have lost the note saying who they were for.

[Embarrassing, but there had just been a battle. Things were bound to be scrambled. ]

And second, I should apologize for disappearing during the battle. Apparently my living through a few years at home was deemed more important than my helping with the machines. Were they of any use at all or were they too much trouble?

[Leonardo waved a hand in the air as if writing invisible notes before answering his own question.]

They may have been too complex... Maybe a simpler machine that could do more damage would work better.

[He does have in mind a kind of armored wagon with canons. Built correctly it should be accurate and deadly. He just needs to work out the details of this tank... ]

It really feels like I have been away longer... But Loras? I have finished that painting. I said you would be given the chance to see it when it was complete, so... I think you are still here, and well? If you are you could stop by the workshop sometime to see it?

If we built these things you wanted they would not work? I have only experimented with electrical things in passing, but robotic parts could be possible if they were clockwork. Clocks function very easily in Asgard. And hydraulics should be easy enough, but I suppose it depends on what you would like to do with them? What would you use these things for?

[Granted his is only a Renaissance level technology but things from that period of time might actually have an advantage here. They ran more on man power and clockwork than on electricity. ]

Clockwork... such as the mecha? Hmmm, perhaps clockwork parts could be fashioned without the brain to establish the motility on its own. Additional support forces of that nature could be impressive in combat, I think you'd agree.

They would be! If we could make them stable and quick enough, but getting clockwork to behave as a soldier would be difficult. It is useful for toys but I do not know how it would do in a battle. Still it is an exciting idea! Maybe we could put together a few designs and see if they will work?

Do you have any experience with gunpowder?

I should ask Kaworu if he would allow you to look at the mecha unit. You would be surprised how effectively it maneuvers. The design might be of use to you. I can show you the armoring project we were working on for it.

I had heard he was given one of those elven weapons when a friend left Asgard. I had meant to ask him about it, but with so many things happening...

He was. And yes, I think that it would be very appropriate to fashion more of these contraptions. Their design relies upon wood, steam and their brand of magic, but if we can duplicate the first two, perhaps we can find others to duplicate the latter.

Wood and steam would be easy enough to work with, but the magic... Could anyone in Asgard manage that or would we need to see if the elves would share the secret with us?

I will need to speak with this Aladdin and see if he or one of his ilk are able to duplicate the runes used, or if these elves are using some alternate form of magic. I am certain I cannot duplicate the effect with my powers, only the parts.

The machine has runes drawn on it? They should be easy enough to make a copy of, but the magic behind it might be more difficult. I am sure if the magic can be copied Aladdin would find a way to do it.
Or, maybe the people who built the machine in the first place could be visited? Were they fighting on Asgard's side or on the other?

I am not entirely sure of that, and where they may be. However, we can look into it regardless. As for the people, I believe we can find them easily enough. I seem to recall small numbers remained behind to assist.

So they may still be here?

I have dabbled in runes but when it comes to magic I do not understand it very well. I could help with the gears and mechanics of this machine but for the rest...

Precisely. You and I are more skilled at the technical than this arcane mumbo jumbo. I comprehend its existence and acknowledge it, but I don't really have much skill with it.

I do not know if it could be called 'mumbo jumbo' if it has been proved real.

Va bene, this sounds like a wonderful project! I will help where I can.

I stand by the term, however verifiable its power is. It is outside of my experience regardless. And excellent. We will speak again about this after the latest batches of madness calm.
