[ The sound is distorted, muffled. The network keeps messing up; if she didn't need it to retain color, she'd probably throw it in the lake. ]

No, kitty, come here, I'm sorry! Oh my god, is this broadcasting, stop it, bracelet-

[ That last sentence echoes, ripples as if she's speaking under water, and magical feedback buzzes loud.

Dead air for a second.

And then the audio cuts back in, mid sound-- ]

Woof! Dammit, grr-

[ And the growling gives way to breathless and loud barking as Jade trees the cat. Dead air again, and the feed finally cuts. ]

[ The cat.. actually seems pretty unbothered, simply flicking his tail at Ryan. ]

Oooh yeah. So much. Davesprite brought me a frisbee on our of our first dates. It is a sore subject.

Oh my god, I didn't know-- okay. Okay, you just start making a list of exactly how I'm supposed to pay you back for that one.

[He inches closer, giving the cat a scritch behind the ears before he attempts to carefully scoop it up. Getting down might be interesting, but he can handle it, he's pretty sure.

[ But she'll help him get down. Ryan might notice there are thick little growths of tree branch wherever he puts his feet as he starts to descend. ]

[She is getting another very apologetic look once he's back on the ground-- somebody does puppy eyes pretty damn well, actually. It's not intentional, but it is a thing. At least, it is until he turns his attention to the cat, giving it another scritch while he mutters something to it about how cute it is, yes you are, you're adorable.]

[ She gives a very long-suffering sigh, leaning her arm into the trunk of the tree. ]

I don't know why everyone sided with the cat.

[ But she's only grousing playfully, at least. ]

Because it's so cute, Jade.

[Who's the cutest? You're the cutest, kitty. Ryan is still just snuggling it, ruffling its neck fur while he checks to see if it's got a tag or anything.]

And because there are levels of doting affection that are completely cat-safe but would probably get me hit by your boyfriend, so yeah, kitty wins out on that one.

[ Jade sticks her tongue out, even if Ryan's too busy searching for a collar that doesn't exist to see, and she swings her legs idly from her seat. ]

-- okay. Maybe it's a little cute, but I'm obligated to disagree.

[He needs to make extra sure it's not there, alright, and if that happens to come off looking like he's very busy making sure that cat is not lacking in attention-- okay, no, that's exactly what it is.]

You're still cute too! Just, you know. Not tiny and furry.

...It's probably hungry or something, too. Maybe I'd better take it home and feed it. Just for a bit.

[Yeah because this is totally nothing but altruism and nothing to do with him collecting cats.]

[ She's amused, though, not judgmental. ]

...just one shadow cat, and not all the time. I mean, I don't even have to feed Corvus or anything.

[He's looking a bit guilty even if she's not being judgmental.]

Good. I should... probably head back before it manages to get up any more trees, think I've got a couple things to pick up now.
