( 002 ) voice.

What do people do for work around here? Especially those who have never had a job before. [ Penelope's got plenty of skills, but none of them are really work related at all and being stuck in a house her entire life means she's never had the chance to even think about getting experience. ] I understand it's not entirely necessary if I stay in the room I was given in Odin's house, but it would be nice to have some extra spending money. And something to keep me busy when things are relatively calm here.

[ There's a bit of a pause, as if Penelope's hung up, before she adds something more. ] I'm also looking for someone to play chess with, or someone I can teach if chess isn't something most worlds have. It's one of my favorite games and it would be nice to play it again.

Horticulture? You're an herbalist then? [She pursed her lips a little and glanced at the place. The others who were herbally inclined had always picked up odd jobs, or done their own research. She really could use an assistant.]

Are you more on the growing end, or do you know how to make herbal cures?

[awww, she sounds a little disappointed at that. Still, she soldiers on.]

Oh... pity. I was kinda looking for an assistant, but don't worry about it. If you haven't really done anything like this before, just grab a job and try to learn. It's not that scary in the end. All you have to do is follow directions and after a while it starts to make more sense.

[She rubbed her forehead and looked around for a second. The half demon frowned and sighed. She really, really wanted an assistant, along with the help at the counter.]

Look... I make some pretty high grade medicines, so you'd have to learn your way around the shop and take directions, but ... it's not like I've got a degree. You want to either work at the counter with Sophie, or help out in the back?

...assuming you don't mind what I make there. [Remember, poisons...]

[She wouldn't have been surprised, but she did at least feel like offering, even if it wasn't taken.]

If you change your mind, give me a call. The offer's open until it gets picked up. With my record, I wouldn't bet on that being soon, but I appreciate the thought.

About every two weeks or so, usually ten to twenty, and about that many slip away, or a little less. It depends. It's almost like clockwork. Only so many of us stay here for long periods.

Some do, but even some of the ones who help out a lot go away, and some of the ones that do nothing stay for seemingly forever. It's not easy to predict, honestly.

The only thing predictable is that they aren't predictable. Don't try to let it get you down. ... If you're not looking for a job, you want to stop by Folkvang one of these days? You sound like you could use some relaxation, and I haven't been there in a while.

Its a place over in Freyr district. There's a spa, mud baths, skin treatments, places to relax and get a massage. Bunch of little buildings, all pretty much focused on professionals getting you to relax and take away the tension.

I used to go once in a while with a friend of mine, but she's gone. It could be good for ya. Failing that, there's always the bar scene.
samantha_grey: (Yeah...)

A little, but I run a shop. I can splurge now and then, Penelope. You can pay me back by taking me the next time after you've got work.

As for drinks? there's a few bars in town. Beer's definitely on tap, though I prefer harder stuff myself.

Don't worry about it. It's an excuse for me to go, and god knows I could probably use the break too. [She chuckled a little.]

Bourbon and Tequila mostly. Harsh, but I know a few that cut a lot smoother than the really bad sort. Vodka's ok mixed with fruit.

Sure thing. Just give me a call whenever you want to go. I'll call ahead to get us an appointment. Cut... oh, well bourbon's really harsh most of the time, but a couple brands don't burn your throat quite as bad. Wild Turkey was always one of the best back home. As for tequila, you just had to splurge on the pricey brands.

Whatever floats your boat. When you want to get together? I've got evening's free when a certain gray skinned idiot isn't making my life difficult.
