Hey, Travelers. [Guess who's looking much more chipper? That's right. This guy.]

Got a couple of things for you today. First, since I'm putting together a lot of information for the guide already, I thought I'd pick up one of the projects I stopped when the attacks got really bad a few months ago. I'm putting together a journal of all the combinations of house powers that people have tried already, with the results included. So why don't you all tell me what you've done before? It doesn't matter if it was successful or not. Once I'm done, I'll send it out to everyone through the bracelets, yeah?

Oh, that's right. A lot of you probably don't know who I am. [Oops, got a little ahead of himself there. Merlin laughs sheepishly.] Er--it's Merlin. My name, I mean. I guess I'm sort of the one who organises the Teacher's Council meetings around here, so if you've got questions...

[Merlin brightens suddenly.] Speaking of the meetings, we'll be having our next one in a few days. At first I wondered if I should postpone it, since we've got so many visitors in the city, but having everyone there should make things more interesting, shouldn't it? We don't know how long it'll take for the gods to fix this, so you might as well make yourselves at home in the meantime. Anyway, I'll see you all there. Anyone who wants to come is welcome to!

Not actually his sister, but Conan-kun lives with me and my father in Tokyo! We're taking care of him while his parents travel. It's nice to meet you, too, Samantha-san!

Close enough, I'd say. Nice to meet you too. I guess they're bringing the whole gang around, eh? I was wondering about his parents, but I never actually thought to ask.

Mm! I enjoy looking after Conan-kun as a little brother.

Though, I think it's just us. If Tou-san's here, he's not answering his phone. [Then again, if Mouri were here, chances are high he would still blow Ran off to hit on women and get embarrassingly drunk ... Ran sighs, before registering Samantha's question.]

Conan's parents are -- well, I've only met his mother, but she seems ... nice? [As nice as anyone who would cheerfully abandon their seven-year-old son to strangers while they go off travelling, anyway ... ] And Conan-kun doesn't seem to miss them, even if they never call or write ... Ne, Conan-kun, you've never told me--

[Ran pauses, becoming aware of a distinct lack of small child.] Again?

Hah. I wouldn't worry about it. He's got heaps of friends in this place. They'll make sure he doesn't get in too much trouble. Honestly, he needs a day off. I think too many people depend on him as a rule.

Weird, so young and everyone's banking on his input.

I... kind of have trouble understanding that, though. My parents were always ... well, my mom was really involved in my life, and my dad's a psycho.

I should still look for him. Conan-kun wouldn't bother anyone on purpose, but he's not very good at staying out of the way ...

[Wait, depending on Conan-kun? Banking on his input? That is --

Fortunately Sam's psycho father puts everything in perspective.] Ah! I'm -- sorry to hear that ...

Don't worry about it. He's... not here. That's all that matters, and you're right. Conan's got a bad habit of not being able to keep his nose out of things, but he's also handy in the process so I don't think people mind too much.

For Sam-san's sake, I'm glad. [Ran's sincere in that. Not only are parents difficult enough anyway, she has met more than a few sympathetic killers in her time, and guesses the situation's complicated. ~~Little does she know ...~~

She nods slowly at Sam's words about Conan.] It sounds like Conan-kun was able to help Sam-san?

[And if she was lucky, Ran never would have to realize.]

He's been very helpful to me and to a lot of people. Actually, what I feel bad about is how much so many of us came to rely on him. He's so young...
