Hey hey- quick question guys. So I've talked to a few people over the past couple weeks, and I'm getting the idea that a lot of you aren't too keen on the whole 'murdering your fellow man' thing. Which totally surprises me, since I thought we were pulled here to murder things! Or fight a war, I guess.

So this is a little informal poll!

Uh- how many of you have killed someone before? Of your own species, or close enough! Cold blood, warm blood, lots of blood- method or reason don't really matter.

If you want to give details, that'd be awesome.

--I guess I should start, though, huh? I've killed loads of people. Like a lot! [More laughter.] Buuut my world's had at least two wars just in my lifetime, so there's never been any shortage of targets, nya ha ha!

It's not that I don't, they're honestly better company than a lot of living people-- but for one thing, it's unavoidable when you can see them, and it's really not their fault they're stuck either.

Mostly it's just frustrating to get the upset ones. Not a whole lot to be done about their deaths, it's not like I could go to the authorities and tell them "oh, by the way, this dead person just identified their murderer if you'd kindly go arrest them."

Yeah, that'd just be a ticket to getting locked up instead! But you could go after the murderer yourself! 'Cause that's totally a situation that can be solved with more death.

Man, dead things really are great. Especially when they can get up so you can kill them again. Can you kill ghosts? I'm more used to dealing with the meatier kind of undead.

It'd solve it, yeah, but I'm not the tracking type. Trying to find a murderer on my own'd just be asking to get myself stabbed too, I don't... really fight or anything yet.

And no, ghosts are-- they're intangible to everybody except people who've got a pretty strong sixth sense. I mean, I can touch them, they could touch me, but nothing really changes 'em. Y'know? They're static. We didn't really get much of the other undead, except for like, two vampires.

Getting stabbed is the quickest way of learning how to avoid it, nya ha! So... you still don't fight at all?

Huh... so you get dead people hanging out with you, and you can't do anything with 'em? At least you're never alone that way!

I'm working on it. Kinda. Don't really want to practice the power I've got here, but like you've said, there's a war and all. Probably should start working on something.

[Talking about the ghosts always cheers him up some, though, and he perks up a bit as he does.] And yeah, pretty much! I just mean they're static in their shape and state and everything, they're still great for conversation. Like having roommates that I don't have to cook for.

What power ya got? 'Cause I'm totally up for getting practiced on, if you need a subject~

And that sounds pretty great. All the buds you could ever need, but you never have to clean up after them. Do they get along with each other? Can they fight? ...Can they POSSESS things? Being filled with ghosts would be awesome.

...what, you are? I-- okay. Okay, I didn't really figure a lot of people would be too keen on that, but you're not 'a lot of people', are you. I've got body control if you're sure about that.


I'm not gonna go into details over the network, but yeah, they can possess things. Been there. Really, really weird to have happen to you. And they can sort of fight? I mean, they can scare people off messing with the electricity and slamming doors and things, that happens when they get upset.

I absolutely don't mind! It sounds fun. Control away, whenever you'd like- we're even in the same house, so there's not far to go~

I bet it'd be weird! And also kind of great. Must've been a pretty nice life!

It kinda was. I mean, there's drawbacks to the whole thing too, but you get that with anything, yeah?

[He's still considering that offer, quiet for a couple moments while he finishes thinking.]

And, uh. Think I could probably use the practice if you're really that willing to help out with it, I haven't... actually used that power yet. [And another very brief pause as a thought strikes him.] Would you, um. Want any kind of trade for that? I mean, I'd feel bad just kind of using you for practice, at the very least I can cook or something.

Yeah, that's true. Like if you're bleeding everywhere, you know you're having a good time, but eventually you start running out of blood and it gets harder to walk. I guess that's a downside.

And sure, I'm totally game! Why haven't you used it at all yet, though? I could barely keep my hands off the shadows once I figured out how to move 'em! And I don't know if I really need anything... I dunno, I don't think of it like a favor. Getting controlled just sounds like fun!

Shame my roommate didn't get dragged into all this too, sounds like you guys'd get along. [And he just chinhands, smiling slightly at that. Your scale of 'weird' gets kind of messed up when you live with ghosts and something that eats people.]

I haven't been using it 'cause it sort of skeeves me out, y'know? The whole controlling people thing. And it kind of requires using it on something living to practice it, and... yeah. Not doing that without permission unless I really need to. If I'd got the whole shadow thing I bet I'd have been using that one plenty, but that's my luck for you.

Oh, what was he like? Was he another ghosty, or stuck on this side of life?

Not even on bugs? Bugs are pretty good-natured about getting hauled around, even if you don't ask first. But hey, you have me now, so no worries.

Nah, he's fae-- shapeshifts, eats people, that kind of business. Bet he'd have a bunch of stories about it too.

And honestly, I didn't even think of trying it out on something like bugs. [Just a little sheepish.] It's a good suggestion though, I might try that too if you're not around sometime.

All I ever got out of him on that one was "you probably don't want to know", sorry. Offered to cook for me a few times but it's... reaaaaally not my thing.

Just let me know when you're good for stuff, yeah? I don't have a job here or anything, I'm pretty open.

Aww... you should've tried it! I heard we taste a lot like pork. Smell like it too, when we're on fire~

I'm game pretty much whenever! Don't have a job either, apart from waiting to meet all the bad guys.

Maybe in a day or two then? I'm going to try to find out more about it in the meantime, so I'm not going into this blind.
