004 - video;

[In the Hel district, Alice is sitting on the ground, dress poofed out as she is, with a drawing in her lap. Her hands are a little bit dirty from the graphite; ever so reluctantly, Alice displays it.]

Back in London when I was - well, where I wasn't important - I would draw. But it didn't feel like it does now. It feels soothing... in a way. I'm sure it sounds very silly to say that. It is true, however. It is wonderful to draw again without a bout of melancholy attached to it.

I have tried some paints. I am still not sure... I don't think I'm that very good compared to some artists I've seen sketching away or at an easel with their paints. The mineral oil used to dilute the paint gives me a headache. I don't know what would substitute it, but I want to try!

You see?

[Okay, so she's a little excited. Off to the side, Alice just flashes to a board she was painting on.]

I am... still not that used to it. As I told someone else, this is the most independence I've had in my life.

[ooc; The first drawing is canon, it's from the casebook that came with the first game and the second one was actually my oil painting final, haha.]

It does not sound silly at all, signora. I find drawing to be very relaxing and it does take less time than painting. Though painting is nice too.

You actually have a lot of skill with both. You must have a great interest in the arts?

If oil paint is giving you trouble you could try watercolor or they have something now called acrylic. Both dry far too quickly for me but you might have some success with them.

They sell it at the local art store I go to. It should be easy to find if you would like to try it.
Other than that maybe working outdoors would help. More fresh air might prevent a headache.

You should not be so shy your work does show potential and if you enjoy doing it that is even better! I hope you continue with your art.

Even so, the drawings you just shown us a very well done.

[He could not help find them beautiful, especially the first drawing. It looked rather interesting.]

How long have you drawing for, miss?

Don't worry, independence is easy to get used to.

[ Peers at the artwork. ]

... You're very good~

What was it that took your independence from you before?

[ The idea of being completely dependent on another person is so alien to Road, despite her appearance. ]
cutestkiller: (omg so cute)

But you don't have to be an adult to be independent~

Uhm, they're...just a second! I'll get some. [She scuttles off for a moment and then reappears on-screen waving an open box of crayons at Alice.] They're these!

The place I found was in the Freyr district. I have only used the shop to buy a few small things as I still prefer mixing my own paints but they did have a fairly large assortment of painting materials there.

La vostra accoglienza.

[(Your welcome.)
So said with a small polite bow.

It can be difficult if you have never done it before. You have to have some skill with alchemy and you have to know which minerals to mix together to get the color you want.

[When he says 'alchemy' what he means is 'chemistry', that is what they would have called it in his time. ]

But, I have been doing that for a long time now. It is quite easy for me.

Melancholy?

That's right, you do! You could probably use them on other things too but they're best with paper. They're...rubbery, I guess? They're not wet like paint and they don't smudge like charcoal. And they're very colourful!

Showing off one's skill is not the only reason to do something.

[Translated: Keep going even if you suck, and then you won't suck as much.]
