[ he feels like he was home and back here again in the blink of an eye. it's a little jarring, to say the least. but none of that shows. he hides his frazzled side well. one thing that he can't hide though is just how exhausted he is. not physically, no. but mentally, emotionally. being in the capitol - trapped, no less - and having to deal with... well, with everything. it's tiring. not that he really had the time to deal with any of that while he was home. he was there just long enough to get a clear reminder of where he was and what awaited him when he went back for good, though.

that's why there's also a hint of relief. or maybe it's more like a lot of relief and just a hint of exhaustion by comparison. well whatever the ratio, he can't hide, either, just how glad he is to be back here again ]

I don't understand what the point of sending me back to Panem was if I was just going to be brought right back here again. That is what happened, isn't it? I went home and came back?

[ he's almost afraid to ask, but ]

Was I the only one? From Panem to be sent back there, I mean.

[ She can't believe her eyes. Cannot. She's relieved and terrified but he seems to remember, but maybe... Is that even a good thing? Immediately she cracks. All the patching she's done since she found out about Peeta..: it's stripped away and what's left is raw. ] Peeta!!

Are you hurt? [ She looks like she might cry, break at any moment. She's so worried, and so relieved to see him, but she's scared.. What did they do?. ]

[ Then fear gives way to anger. Because he scared her. He terrified her. He left here and now he's acting like it wasnt a huge deal, like he hasn't been gone for weeks and weeks and weeks. ] You've been gone for ages! They had you, Peeta, they had you in the Capitol. Did you know? Why didn't you tell me?! You scared me to death!

I fell asleep and went home. Or dreamed home. I remember now. I remember your message to the rebels and to me. I remember you sitting there with Caesar, telling us to give up. What did they do to you? Why didn't you say anything before?

[ And then the tears do come. They flood her eyes and she tries her best to keep them from rolling down her cheeks. They sting the hot red skin, flushed with emotion, and she stares at him in awe. He's really here. But until she sees him in person, until she can touch him, she won't believe it. Not wholly. She can't trust it yet. ]

I'm on my way. Don't move an inch.

[Annie smiles, truly for what feels like the first time since she's been back. She knew he'd return, she'd told Katniss that when he'd been sent back.

No, you weren't the only one, Peeta. Finn-- [She closes her eyes for a moment, drawing in a deep breath.] Finnick has been sent home, Katniss too, but she came back... And I was sent home but brought back.

[ the more friends from home that he's seeing here, the better he's starting to feel. until she mentions finnick. she said that katniss came back, and annie came back too but ]

Finnick hasn't come back yet? Well he will, Annie. I know he will.

[ Arthur knows exhaustion well into his bones in the tension of sore muscles and the tired lines that never seem to leave his eyes. He knows it well - but he also knows the breath of fresh air when one's head finally breaks the water, and he is loathe to know it in so many of his friends here.

Yet it's better than the alternative. Far better. ]
