[Castiel is all business, as usual, in turning on the feed; he's broadcasting from his nice home in Freyr district, not actually at work at the moment, and he has his serious face on ~~not that that's different from usual.~~ His voice is even and clinical, but to those that know him well he sounds a bit more subdued than usual, lacking the normal underlying enthusiasm for the subjects he's about to discuss.]

When I was here before, I was working on a compilation of powers and detailed information on abilities, limitations, and uses for each of them at their different levels of strength. It is now outdated, but I would like to improve upon on it.

I am interested in hearing from anyone who has more information, even on entries that already contain details, and particularly on those that don't.

I am also interested in distribution of individuals among the houses. When I was here the first time, particularly in the first few days, Heimdall house vastly outmatched the others in terms of numbers. I am curious as to if that has changed, and how the balance stands now.

[So feel free to chime in with houses if you desire to share; he's curious, and collecting and analyzing the information will give him something to do. The public part of the feed ends there, as he switches to a private filter.]

[Daphne's called him out of work for the next week, so he might as well do something, and he does feel bad about not getting back to Lancelot about this. As usual, he'd gotten distracted with the drama that is his life.]

[He's not certain that encourages him, but he does trust Castiel.

And admires him. More than a little.]

Managing. [Things are pretty...awful, in New Camelot. But Castiel doesn't need to hear of their drama.] And yourself?

Managing.

[He echoes the sentiment, because he's pretty sure Lancelot will get it for the answer it is just as Castiel understood it from him. It had all been going relatively well, really, until he'd had the misfortune of remembering more events from home.

Changing the subject to something inane...]

Did you participate in the gods' recent contest?

I did not.

[It sounds as if bad is just going around these days.]

Did you?

No, though Daphne did. She seemed to enjoy working on it.

[Maybe it made her feel like she was a normal wife in a normal place.]

That's good, enjoyment should be taken wherever it can be found.

[It seems so rare these days. Everything seems so bleak.]

I would like to resume our training, at your convenience.

Alright. We can practice at the hospital, as usual.

[Castiel isn't working, but he shows up when he isn't often enough, and the doctors generally will let him do whatever he likes. Fortunately.]

That would be fine.

[He nods] Thank you.

I will meet you there in an hour, then.

I will be there.

[Castiel is waiting outside of the hospital an hour later, leaned quietly back against an outside wall, still and with his head bowed in apparent thought.]

[Lancelot joins him shortly after, looking apologetic for his inexcusable tardiness of a minute or two.]

Castiel - sorry, have I kept you waiting long?

[Castiel starts just a little, drawn out of his thoughts--not that that's unwelcome--by the voice, and he looks up.]

No. Just a few minutes.

[He normally arrives places way early, but he's too scattered at the moment; he'd barely gotten there first. But he draws himself up a little, lifting his chin and collecting himself before leading the way inside.]

Have you done much since our last lesson several months ago?

I have been practicing on injuries caused in the Citadel, and I have been coming to the hospital as often as I could.

[Which wasn't often, he's sad to say. When he's not scheduling time with Castiel, his time just tends to be taken up by life. THere are always things to do.]

I have gotten better at stopping.

That is good. Being able to stop at the correct time is the point of import in regards to this power.

[He'll consider Lancelot a master of the ability just like he is once he's capable of it, because that's the true tricky aspect of it.]

Are there particular parts you still have issue with in regards to it?

Well when the injury is small it's very hard to stop, but I imagine that's because the process is very short.

[He pauses.]

And when the injury isn't it's hard to stop because my judgment is clouded, but that is not an issue with the power.

[That's an issue with his heart.]

It is difficult to split small injuries for that reason, yes.

[He gives a small nod.]

That is usually the issue. Do you simply lose focus?

[He turns quiet as he ponders that question.]

I suppose in a way -- it is what happens, yes.

[He tilts his head a little.]

Is there more to it?

[He asks because there often is for him; he lets himself go too far on occasion, not entirely on purpose, but by actively not preventing himself from losing focus.]

[He looks down as he attempts to consider it. Is there? He tries to retrace his thoughts when draining the damage of others, thinking back mainly to what had happened in the battle.]

In the face of pain and distress - I am unable to think, unable to concentrate on anything but what I can do to end it.

[He nods a little; he understands, and he might be able to help with that.]

This is an instance in which control over your emotions would benefit you.

[It does for him; the millions of years of being forced not to feel helps him switch it off--for the most part--when necessary. Compartmentalizing, he's pretty sure humans call it.]

You must be able to look at the situation and the individual you're healing without being empathetically involved.

I know not how to do that.

[How not to feel for them, to want to take away all their hurt, to say he's helped enough...]

It takes practice. If it helps, remind yourself that thinking in such a way will ultimately be of great benefit to both who you are healing and yourself, and anyone else you may be able to later heal because you paced yourself.

I know I - I'm perfectly capable of reminding myself that - after. But during -

[He's an utter failure]

Then that is what you will have to focus on.

[He nods]
