020 ✿ Audio+Text
I've started singing again. Nothing serious, it's just a couple of nights a week at this little jazz lounge in Freyr, but it's nice to be start doing something so familiar again. And I don't want to get rusty.
So - I don't know - if anyone ever wants to drop by the address is here. [She's switching over to text briefly to type out the lounge's location, then it's back to audio!] It's got some pretty good food and drinks, so it's worth checking out!
[And then her tone turns slightly more awkward, because this is kind of a personal subject.] Oh, and does anyone know if there's anything that's sort of like... books that explain how to write? Stories, I mean. Fake things that are completely one hundred percent not true. I've never done it before, so I don't know if there are specific rules or what.
[What? It's a totally benign request and has nothing to do with a desire to try writing romance-y things about people she may or may not know.]
[Filtered away from John Allerdyce]
Hey, what kinds of things should a person expect if she happened to be going on a date with someone and it involved burgers? What should I even wear...?

[She drags her gaze downwards to Jamie's fingers, watching him before mimicking his actions with her hand. She struggles a little, not used to any kind of instrument let alone complicated ones like bagpipes.]
Right, alright. I think I have it! Maybe....
no subject
Yes, that's it. Just make sure that your finger's fully covering one of the holes. Once you've done that, I think you're ready to have a proper go. Don't worry about moving your fingers on the chanter, or anything like that. If ye can get it started, I think you'll be able to hold at least one note just fine.
[If she can sing, she should be able to control her breath well enough to manage that much, he thinks, and steps back in order to give her a bit more room to try it out.]
Go ahead and see if ye can, aye?
no subject
Right, okay. Here I go!
[Her first attempt she doesn't blow quite hard enough, but she realizes that quickly and gives it another go, blowing much harder and managing to get a note.]
no subject
Hey, there ye go! We'll make a piper of ye yet, Euri. Here, don't worry about holding it too long, though. I'd not want ye to risk doing something that might cause problems, not if ye plan on singing at that club like ye mentioned.
no subject
Thank you! Is playing the bagpipes really strenuous?
no subject
[He saw the problem she had getting it to settle under her arm in the first place, and has fair idea that set might be too large for her in general.]
Most people start off with just practicing on the chanter anyway. It's easier to manage, and quieter, too.
no subject
The chanter's the thing I blow into?
no subject
Yes and no. If you've not got the pipes together and you're just using it for practice, then aye, it would be the thing ye blow into. There's a specific sort of chanter ye can actually get for just practice, but I don't have one. If it was with these pipes in the TARDIS, it didn't get brought here with them.

[Besides which, it'd likely not be something he could afford right now. Unless she hadn't meant it for him...]
Why, were ye thinking of picking one up for yourself?
no subject
If you're willing, I mean.

[He pulls a little bit of a face as he's poked, but it's there and gone so quickly it only really comes across as his lips pressing together very briefly. As her words sink in, it's replaced with a slightly more perplexed expression.]
Wait, ye want me to teach ye how to play? Well...I did promise the Doctor I'd finally show him how to play the pipes, so I suppose I could for ye as well, if that's what ye wanted.

[Clearly the idea hadn't even occurred to him.]
We're friends, aren't we? I don't mind teaching ye. It'll be good practice for when...well, it'll be good practice, anyway.
no subject
... Do you drink tea?
no subject
Aye, of course I do. Why?
no subject
no subject
[He's not entirely sure how one could make homemade tea, unless they grew the leaves themselves, but it seems like a fair exchange to him.]
Aye, that sounds grand. It's a deal. Where would ye like to meet for those, though? The flat's a wee bit crowded usually, and I'm not so sure my welcome hall'd be such a good idea.
no subject
How about here in the park? If it isn't too long of a walk for you this is the perfect place.
no subject
Do ye not remember what my power is? Even if it's further, I can still get here quickly enough, ye know.
[But he looks around him then, and smiles.]
But, aye, I think you're right. The park'll work nicely. Well, unless it's raining.
no subject
Right, right!
- Great, then we'll meet here.
no subject
[The more he's thinking about it, the more he finds he's liking the idea of teaching her how to play, but there's something else that's occurred to him.]
I suppose I'd best see about getting ye that practice chanter first, though. Do ye happen to know where there's a music store about in this place?
no subject
Not for instruments. I can find one, though!
no subject
Unless you'd figured out what ye wanted to wear already, that is.
no subject
Are you actually offering to go dress shopping with me?
