001 | [Video]
[The opening of the video makes it plainly apparent that it isn’t entirely intended, but the man onscreen recovers quickly. There passes only a moment’s surprise – eyebrows quirked, thoroughly unamused – before Sherlock’s expression settles and his eyes roam across the interface. Not ideal, showing his face like this. Not at all ideal, but whoever has him now obviously already knows it. Whoever brought him here, put this bracelet on his wrist, and there are so many reasons he should cut the feed now, so very many reasons, but it would be pointless, wouldn’t it? They know he’s alive. That means he hasn’t much time, not much at all. And so instead of ending it, instead of cutting the feed now, he speaks.]
Lovely jewelry, very clever, but not quite enough to buy me, I’m afraid. Maybe later. Things to do. Perhaps, instead, you could tell me where the bloody hell I am and how not to be here anymore.

[Voice]
Not for me. It's some sort of... time travel, all this.
[Voice]
[He says it flatly, and chases it with a heavy sigh.]
Nevermind. Sort it out later. It's... fine. Better, probably; wasn't much fun.
[And if Sherlock is saying that, it must have been really rather awful.]
[Voice]
Right.
I do know it sounds like a load of rubbish, but I don't make a habit of being a liar.
[Voice]
[Which isn't to say that Sherlock believes it just yet, but he now knows that John does.]
Be easier if I could see you, but you're not talking as though I should immediately pay attention to something else so I don't notice you're trying to mislead me.
[Voice -> Video]
I bet I do.
[Voice -> Video]
Mm. Not the cleverest liar. Tend to just agree with you; may as well now.
[A beat.]
And funnier. You get so...
[Sherlock scrunches his nose and makes an indecipherable gesture.]
Where are you?
[Just not Sherlock, who is clearly better.]
I can see you now.
[ So Sherlock will only need to turn a little bit to see him too. ]
It was always going to be intolerable. Always. And so he does, after the passing of a few seconds, dismiss the video feed and turn almost gingerly to meet John's approach.]
[Action]
Sherlock is incredibly skilled at giving him a headache.
Still, when he finally does reach him, he actually smiles. Even if nothing but boredom's awaiting Sherlock - most likely. ]
Hey.
[Action]
[It's almost a question, ever so slightly hesitant. Sherlock doesn't entirely know where to go from here. It's all a little too easy, and he finds himself looking down at John with a mixture of suspicion and curiosity. It's all there. All that he is is there, everything Sherlock knows. But it's still not right. Shouldn't even be possible. Near enough gives him gooseflesh.]
[Action]
If it has to do with that, it still doesn't make sense. Not with the last one. Not if he didn't lie.
He quietly clears his throat. ]
You were here before, you know.
[Action]
[But it stands to reason that in a place in which 'magic' is real -- or its apparent equivalent is, anyhow; even this Sherlock isn't entirely ready to accept, but if that's true then it does stand to reason that memory is violable. More so even than it used to be, which disturbs him more than faintly.]
[Action]
Right. Whatever. You'll have a room in Hel's Welcome Hall.
[Action]
[Which is obviously the best solution available in this particular situation. He's no intention at all of living on his own, anyway, not when he's got so used to having John around.]
[Action]
Right. Of course. You won't be able to stay too long there, though. Or so I've heard. Maybe you wanna try. We can move out and get our own place, in any case.
[Action]
[Sherlock repeats it almost indignantly, as though he can't quite work out why John is laughing, his brow furrowing.]
Don't know how I'd think properly without you trying to stop me doing so by stomping about or breathing or whatever else it is you do; won't work on my own, wouldn't make sense.
[Action]
No, I suppose it wouldn't.
[ And he's surprised at just how happy he is to have Sherlock back, considering how the last round went. Maybe he'd just forgotten what a more content Sherlock was like. ]
I guess we'll start looking right away, then.
[Action]
[It's a surprisingly cautious bit of teasing, given how mild it is. Sherlock is generally more than willing to engage, if in his own, sometimes harsh fashion. It's different now. Harder. There're too many unknowns, too much chance of things going wrong again.]
