Ah--Hello, my name's Saki Watanabe. I recently arrived here in Asgard to House Sigyn. [Wow, this sounds super formal. She looks almost sheepish as she just decides to sit back with a sigh.]

This whole place is just weird. The electricity, people, vehicles. In Kamisu our only method of transportation is boats; I don't even know what to call some of these things. [She laughs to herself.] I'm guessing I'm not the only one who's had a culture shock.

[She mellows after a moment, tucking a strand of hair behind her air. She's still dirty from the search for her friends and more than a little uneasy, but she's trying to tuck it away for the important things right now. Which is what leads her to a question.]

How long do people stay here?

[No that's not quite what she wanted to ask either so she lets out a breath.] It was sort of implied, with a war-- but are many people really capable of hurting each other here? [Not indirectly. Through means like faker cats and trickery, but not helping and harming. It was a foreign concept to the girl in all.]

Sorry, that must be a little weird. Huh? So what do you guys do now that you're here?

What do you mean? It's easy to hurt other people. Intentionally or not. Physically or emotionally.

So any violence against someone whatsoever is illegal? How did your world reinforce that?

Anyone who shows signs of harming the town is annihilated in advance. The act of killing another human results in death-feedback.

What's death-feedback? [He's wondering if it's anything like his use of Telepathy while reading dying minds.]

[Not this high safety precautions. Not at all.]

Really? Why? What's the point in that?

[She groans though and then sighs.]

It's a question-- that's what. [She can sound irritated, too. Since it seems her question was confirmed anyway.]

Domestic things can be fun, too.

[Well then...Her worry makes sense now.]

So you're worried that still applies here.

It doesn't, and I highly doubt it applies to only you since you're from that town. You're free to hurt anyone here and even kill without death-feedback, although you'll still face consequences from people who care about what you did. [???, why would you phrase it like that?]

You'll probably have to hurt others in the future since this is war, and you don't have that sort of system protecting you. That doesn't mean you have to though. Death doesn't mean much here since you'll be revived when the gods have the time and energy. If you're in Sigyn, I'm guessing you have the healing ability since that's what the majority seems to have. Instead of fighting, you can help heal others who do the fighting when another battle occurs.

Fighting is essential here though, which means people will be hurt.

That's a relief to hear. In truth, I really wanted to know. What I just told you isn't common knowledge in my own world. Most of the town goes on without any awareness to the cruelness. We truly are taught people don't exist who would think they'd hurt each other-- because they don't. Deceiving people, harming them, killing them; they're all just scary stories. It's a scary reality to step into.

[But she thinks she likes it better this way. Freedom, wasn't it?]

I've seen a war before.

[And she believes that there are ways to fight without harming others unnecessarily, certainly, but she keeps that to herself.]

You're right. My ability is healing. That's what the maid told me, at least. How often does fighting occur?

I suppose it's scary, but if you've seen war, you'll probably get used to it in some form.

The fighting is random. Whenever the giants decide to attack us. We're more or less sitting ducks, but we have other things on our plates. In the last big battle, one of the gods (Freyr) sacrificed his life to end the battle. His sister (Freya) ran away afterwards, saying that we weren't going to help her revive him. Going a bit crazy from grief, but that means we're two gods down unless the rest decide that we should go off and find a way to revive Freyr and potentially coax his sister back with his revival.

The catch is that the Thiazi, Queen of the Frost Giants, has basically stolen Freyr's soul, so that will probably complicate things. We don't know why she did so, but it's still a problem.

You're right, but the Ethics Committee and the Education Committee don't see it that way. They do everything because they think it's what's best.

[And, oh, what beef she has against that...]

It's different between people. I've only ever seen it through queerrats. We have to wait for them to come to us. Is anyone going to look? How do they expect to bring a god back anyway? A soul?

I have no clue what queerrats are, so they're probably only from your world.

Who knows. The gods will probably give an announcement sometime since they made us take a vote. It seems the majority were for reviving Freyr, but we'll need to go look for answers first on how to revive him.

And yeah, it's pretty busy if you want to acknowledge these things. Some people tend to sit back and try to create a normal life here too.

Well, it depends! People can hurt each other but... I don't think they want to though. [At least, that's what she likes to think]

They're afraid. They have reason to be, but I don't think eliminating people on whim solves anything.

[Which is what they do. She can understand if they were almost a fiend, but Mamoru was a whim.]

They're the animals closest to human intelligence. They war, but humans don't. You mean everyone votes on things here? If there's a way to revive someone and they can help... I think that is the answer everyone would choose, it makes sense. Isn't that what the letter says though? They've given everyone the amenities for a normal life and ask for them to help.

No, that was a first time for our interactions with the gods. I think some weren't for it because a straightforward strategy was given, or they don't want a "crazy" god back. They also don't want to risk their lives for something that might not be worth the effort in the end.

...You're Saki, from group one, aren't you? [He doesn't know what answer he wants to hear, but at the same time, he has to know for sure. This... is the Saki he knows, isn't it?]
