Some people wish to return to their worlds, therefore when they do, it’s a good thing. A thing to be glad for. Because this place may not bring them the happiness they truly want and they deserve. So I am glad that they do return. [ that he returned ]

But I don’t understand why it hurts that they left. It shouldn’t hurt. It’s something to be glad for, something to be happy for, because they will be happier.

We're inherently selfish, Kaworu. Sometimes we're happy for them because they went back to what they loved, but we don't like that they left because we don't have them. Hell, it's worse here because we know they're going back to worlds we sometimes can't hope to ever see again, and there's the thought that they won't remember us.

Some people can be completely selfless, but I know I'm not one of them. There's a few people out there that the thought of them never remembering who I was actually pisses me off, a lot.
