Some people wish to return to their worlds, therefore when they do, it’s a good thing. A thing to be glad for. Because this place may not bring them the happiness they truly want and they deserve. So I am glad that they do return. [ that he returned ]
But I don’t understand why it hurts that they left. It shouldn’t hurt. It’s something to be glad for, something to be happy for, because they will be happier.
I don’t understand. It shouldn’t be like this.
[ For those who live with Kaworu, he won’t be coming home for the next two days. He will return when he remembers he is hungry. ]

Creepy, but you got used to it after a while. Still, she knew this one intimately, so why not share?]
We're inherently selfish, Kaworu. Sometimes we're happy for them because they went back to what they loved, but we don't like that they left because we don't have them. Hell, it's worse here because we know they're going back to worlds we sometimes can't hope to ever see again, and there's the thought that they won't remember us.
Some people can be completely selfless, but I know I'm not one of them. There's a few people out there that the thought of them never remembering who I was actually pisses me off, a lot.

But what about their happiness? Doesn't that count for yours?

Ah -- ] Kaworu?
[ Gentle, but concerned. And opting for video instead. ]
Is everything alright? [ Or, rather -- what's wrong. ]
[audio | private]
He doesn't understand himself right now, much less the expression he is making ]
It is. [ it really is. Shinji left, he will be happier back home. Kaworu is so glad for that. And while Kaworu doesn't understand himself right now, he isn't really important
you know that. ][video | private] 1/2

Emotions don't always make sense. Even if you want to be happy for someone else when something good happens to them that doesn't mean that you won't have other feelings about it too. [Well,] Especially if what happened means you're seperated from them. [... The guess isn't a hard one to make.] It sounds like you're missing someone. I'm sorry.
[Text - Filtered]
it's the pain I don't understand.

You are happy they have left, yet you are sad they are gone. You wish for them to stay, but you also wish for them to go so they will be happy.

Anyways, it just shows that you want to be with them, even if they were only a friend. You appreciate the time you spent together, and want more.
