Alright, I think I've got this shadow thing worked out.

[Isaac mutters into the video, as he absentmindedly flexes his fingers, casting shadow puppets on the wall. After a few moments, the shadow of his hand peels from where it sits, becoming a separate entity entirely.

He flexes his fingers, and the tangible shadow of his hand flexes as well- except the dark 'fingers' begin to file down to sharp, pointed claws. Useful, even if the shadow is trembling, as if he's still having difficulty keeping it whole.]

Now I wanna see what it can do to someone else. [And Isaac grins back toward the camera, dropping his hand and letting the shadow dissipate into nothing.] Anyone wanna go at it? Powers on powers. No holding back.

I'll be at the arena in fifteen.

[sophie looks a little surprised to see him, but not too much. she jogs over]

Connor.

[he looks from isaac to sophie, as if measuring them up against each other]

Came to spar?

[where are you going with this, connor. her face isn't giving away much, but her eyes are amused]

Shadows, yes, but I'm keeping my word otherwise.

[la la la la]

He says he wants a fight.

[Isaac takes a little step back, not really wanting to intrude on all of this.]

Hey, I've got no issue with playing it safe, if she wants.

[one side of her mouth turns up, wry]

Does that make it all right, Connor?

[she turns back to issac]

Well, it would be more interesting, right?

[he gives sophie a little nod, almost too small to notice. then he looks back to isaac.]

You did say you were bored.

[He shrugs.]

Yeah. I'm game for anything.

You said if they were willing... she's willing. And I've got a front row seat, go have some fun.

Well, that's settled, then. No bloodshed, but I'll let you set the terms otherwise, Issac.

[He rolls his shoulder, taking a step back.]

Are we gonna use shadows?

If you like. I can do both at once, at least to some extent.

I want to try it out, so I'm game if you are.

I am.

[she sets her coat down next to connor, then removes her boots and socks as well]

Anything else?

Nope.

[He grins, moving his hand in a quick 'come here' motion.]

I'll even let you take the first shot.

Aren't you a gentleman.

[sophie smiles back, and there's a little manic edge to it. shadow gathers around her, flowing up her legs as she walks towards him. by the time she's standing in front of him, it looks like there's a thin cloud of black mist all around her torso that clings when she moves. after a few bounces on the balls of her feet while she looks him straight in the face, she throws a very obvious punch right at his chin.

this is, of course, a feint, covering for the fact that her leg is also swinging around, attempting to sweep at least one of his feet]

[Isaac is apprehensive of the raising shadow around her legs, and lifts his arms to cover his torso and face, shadows peeling off of his forearms as some kind of extra shield.

The shadows around her obscure her movements, and Isaac can't see exactly hat she's doing, but he can feel the punch coming and moves to block it, knocking her hand away and drawing back for a blow of his own before one of his feet goes up and he loses his balance entirely, stumbling back for a tentative few seconds before he's ultimately unable to regain equilibrium and he falls flat on his ass.]

-woah. Okay.

[Not expecting that. Isaac realizes that he's just been made to look like a fool and grits his teeth when he rises to his feet again.]

You're pretty fast.

[the misty shadow is very close to sophie now, not at all covering her arms or legs, just around her torso and chest. it's not entirely opaque, and it's not obscuring her movements in the slightest. it's actually there as a shield, although he'd have no way of knowing that for sure.]

Thank you. I practice a lot.

[as long as he's on the ground, she doesn't move, because this is a spar. once he's on his feet and ready, she'll raise her hands again and offer him a smile. this time, he can attack first]

[Isaac nods and crouches slightly, before taking off toward her in something of a bull rush. He's never been one for creative approaches, but he figures that this will work well enough, and draws an arm back, shadows gathering around his hand.

He hasn't been trained on much more than brawling with his werewolf abilities- anything requiring skill and finesse is beyond his capabilities at the moment. So, the punch is probably very obvious, though the shadows give it strength.]

[sophie steps a bit to the side as he comes at her, not enough that the punch misses but enough that he can't bowl her over. actually, she steps to the same side as his punching hand, not even making him reach across his body. the purpose of those shadows around her torso becomes clear as they solidify, absorbing a great deal of the impact. her reason for staying in and not simply dodging also becomes clear as she aims to jam her knee into his stomach]

[Isaac feels triumphant when his punch connects, even if it's just the slightest bit- enough to know that he'd managed to do something right at least. But it's not long before Sophie keeps moving, following through and Isaac is in no position to block her.

The knee hurts- he doubles over her, the air crushed from his lungs, and all of his sensation is immediately reduced to trying to force in a breath when it seems like he's suffocating.

In a gut reaction, he turns away from the knee jammed into his stomach, putting his back to her and swinging around to try and hit Sophie with a blindly-thrown elbow.]

[his elbow connects, hitting the shadows again. it's enough to push sophie off-balance, though, and she staggers back two steps with a 'hah!' that sounds more pleased than pained. it was a good hit, in her estimation.

his back is to her, open and vulnerable, but all she does is aim another kick at his side, about kidney height. it's much less forceful than her knee was]

[The kick sends him teetering, and Isaac crashes into the nearby wall, breathing hard and trying to catch his breath from earlier. That's going to leave a bruise, most like.]

Where'd you learn all this?

[sophie looks like she's almost having fun]

Practical experience. I've been fighting all my life, and started learning swordsmanship when I was strong enough to pick up a weapon.
