Alright, I think I've got this shadow thing worked out.
[Isaac mutters into the video, as he absentmindedly flexes his fingers, casting shadow puppets on the wall. After a few moments, the shadow of his hand peels from where it sits, becoming a separate entity entirely.
He flexes his fingers, and the tangible shadow of his hand flexes as well- except the dark 'fingers' begin to file down to sharp, pointed claws. Useful, even if the shadow is trembling, as if he's still having difficulty keeping it whole.]
Now I wanna see what it can do to someone else. [And Isaac grins back toward the camera, dropping his hand and letting the shadow dissipate into nothing.] Anyone wanna go at it? Powers on powers. No holding back.
I'll be at the arena in fifteen.

[action]
No, I'm not.
[she is kind enough not to point out that she's better, though, since he seems to have a touchy ego]
[action]
[Isaac... generally doesn't like picking fights he can't win. Which is a shame, since most of his fights at home resulted in him getting his ass handed to him. Oh well.]
[action]
[what she sees is that he stopped fighting when he realized he wouldn't win but she also wouldn't hurt him. so she just smiles a bit.]
It's something that's difficult for me to forget.
[action]
[He laughs, a little wistfully.]
Miss it every day in this hellhole. Here, you're special just like everyone else.
[action]
I don't care about being special. So many people have powers of their own that it's not really 'special'. I just want to be myself again.
[action]
[action]
[her eyebrow raises]
Fair? Really? What's fair? Technically, this is what's fair, to make us all start over. And yet people still say that it's unfair that I've been here and worked for these powers, too, and they don't just have what I have.
[action]
[action]
I was born with some of my power. But some of it came with a price.
If that war followed you, then those who are also fighting it are as normal as you. And unless they are also of Hel, our power is one of the most casually deadly.
[action]
You don't understand. Forget it.
[action]
What don't I understand?
[action]
[Isaac moves to stand then, in a sudden rush, agitated and angry with Sophie for things that are clearly not her fault. He just has- a lot of feelings about this okay :(]
-you think you know about me, but you don't. You don't know the shit I've gone through, the things I face here even now. The hunters don't have powers, they never needed them. So now she's got extra powers on top of that while I'm still pushing shadows on the wall, useless. My only ally is gone, my only friend is siding with her, do you know what that's like? To have someone not even remember that you gave up everything to help him, and then- just not believing that you'd ever do it?
[action]
No, I don't know exactly. I don't know what you've been through, or the details of your war. I never had a friend before I came here, and the thing that hunted me had plenty of power to spare.
[action]
...I shouldn't be spilling my guts to you like this. Just- forget it, okay?
[action]
Why not?
[action]
We're not- friends.
[action]
[she's not even bullshitting, she's really not sure]
[action]
[He's an angry sullen teenager who doesn't know how to sort through his own feelings, pretty much.]
You shouldn't care about me anyway. You're just my tutor.
[action]
[action]
[That's... an awkward feeling, and almost painfully unfamiliar. Isaac tries to take a deep breath, let it out. It doesn't really calm him down.]
I... I really don't know what to say to that. Why?
[action]
[she shrugs. she doesn't really have any words to express the fact that he is wounded, and she is also wounded, and something about other wounded people draws her]
I wasn't joking when I said that the whole 'friends' thing is new to me.
[action]
[It's dry humor, but at least it's something. Isaac can finally just- look back at her again.]
People don't, you know. Give a shit about me.
[action]
[she smiles, though, obviously teasing just a bit]
This isn't home. I've found people do what they please, even if that's not what one expects of them.
[action]
[Isaac just sighs.]
Just don't expect me to reciprocate. I don't do stuff like that.
