[Well, Diva's morning has been interesting. Coming back from the dead into a monochromatic castle was definitely not one of the things that she wanted to experience. Nor was trying to figure out what the hell this bracelet was supposed to do, but she manages. Somehow.]

[Unfortunately, it's at a rather inopportune time. The video is showing a rather odd angle, but it rotates on the wearer's wrist to show one of the locals lying on the ground.]

Oh? It turned on?

[The video shows a young woman's face instead, with a dribble of blood coming from the corner of her mouth.]

That's how this is supposed to work? That's stupid. [She frowns in annoyance, but then looks thoughtful instead] Ah~ Actually, maybe I can ask! The people here, they're disgusting. They don't taste right at all.

[sigh! her life is so difficult, can't you see.] Hey, are there any normal humans here? I need to get something to eat, but these aren't worth anything at all.

[She looks off screen, and there's a dull thud, like she just kicked the person laying on the ground. But with that, she gives the "camera" an absolutely brilliant smile, then it cuts out.]

[She greets his indignation with a really quite lovely smile]

A cannibal? No, of course not. That would mean that I'm human, right?

[She giggles] So it's not really about being picky. I guess even though I am. You know, people taste really different.

[ INTERNAL GASP, his suspicions were right! She's not human! Right now, though, he's struggling to remember how angry he is, because gee golly that's a nice smile! ]

Yeah, well...you can sign up for donations from the local hospital or something, then. Heck, I'll even help you out with that. It'd be in your best interests to, either way.

[madamemoiselle]

Donations? [She looks confused, but then her face lightens again] Oh, you mean blood donations, right? That's a new thing that you humans like to do. But, no, that's really no good. That stuff is really bad! It's like... Well, it's not fresh, of course. The word isn't really that it's "stale," but that's kind of close?

"You humans?" That's a bit of a jump, isn't it?

[ He's getting really frustrated with himself, because she just kicked an innocent citizen (that she possibly killed) and yet here he is, chatting with her. SHE'S SUPPOSED TO BE EVIL, RIGHT? AREN'T VAMPIRES EVIL? Except he's wicked curious in spite of himself and her description of blood bags being "stale" is morbidly fascinating. DAMN HER. ]

Then maybe you could find a volunteer. And not hurt them. Get my drift?

[madamemoiselle]

[It's her special talent, don't hate, Jr.]

[But she sighs and frowns] But then it's not really fun. I mean, and I can't really not hurt them at all, can I? I'll hurt them just by taking their blood.

[designerchild]

I don't know what's involved with that, but I'm sure you could make it as painless as possible for the person who was kind enough to volunteer some of their blood to you.

[ Why the heck did the gods bring a vampire here? That's like loosing a wolf in a flock of sheep. ]

It shouldn't have to be fun. It's about survival, and if you start trying to hurt people here, they aren't going to let you get away with it.

[ Jr. included. ]

[madamemoiselle]

[She hears that implication in his voice, so everything else is immediately less interesting]

Oh, really? And what will they do? Lock me up? Kill me? Or would you do that?

[designerchild]

[ NO, NOT LESS INTERESTING, right when he thought he was making progress... Jr. will never be cut out to be a social worker. ]

If I had to. [ It's said without hesitancy. ] But I shouldn't have to. We're all stuck here together, so it stands that we're all allies. I don't want to fight, but I will if it's necessary.

There are other ways to get your fun.

[madamemoiselle]

Really? And how is that?

[designerchild]

Oh, I don't know... [ Ticking off his fingers. ] Kicking people's asses in the arena, going to the club, getting chased around by the ghosts at the carnival, baking brownies...

[ He really likes the brownies idea. ]

[madamemoiselle]

[She tilts her head] Those things aren't that fun, though.

[designerchild]

Alright. Let's hear what you consider fun that wouldn't endanger other people.

[madamemoiselle]

[She looks off camera for a few moments to consider it, and her expression pretty clearly says that she's running through a mental list and... crossing things off of it. But finally, she comes up with]

Singing is fun! [Yep, that's it.]

[designerchild]

[ Jr. has to turn away from the video transmission so he can facepalm in silence. Returning to the screen, he decides to try and work with this. ]

There's a theater in this city. I'm sure the people in charge of the productions would be happy to cast you in a musical...or something.

[ Unless Diva pulls a Phantom of the Opera and starts killing off the crew... ]

[madamemoiselle]

A musical? [She shakes her head] No, no, I don't sing like that. I only sing opera.

[designerchild]

[ Now that is something he wouldn't mind hearing. Interest pinged, he swallows his distaste about the person she attacked and rubs the back of his neck in thought. ]

I bet you could put on a show, then. Hey, doing that, you could even making some of the local currency for yourself.

[ He considers her. ]

Where'd you learn to sing opera?

[madamemoiselle]

[She pauses for a moment, considering both. It hits her all of the sudden that she actually does need money--It's a strange thing for a girl that's been around the greatest of wealth for most of her life.]

[But more important is the half-truth to answer his question] I taught myself a long time ago.

[designerchild]

A long time ago? You're only...

[ ...oh right...she's probably immortal... ]

Guess it'd be rude of me to ask a lady's age, huh?

[madamemoiselle]

[She giggles] Well, of course it is. But I don't mind sharing. I'm 174. I probably could have lived forever, though.

[designerchild]

[ A whistle. Age has been prolonged back where he comes from, but not to the point where people could maintain Diva's youthful looks. ]

Probably could have? You saying you didn't?

[madamemoiselle]

[She shrugs, the smile ever-present]

No. I was killed before I came here.

[designerchild]

[ He doesn't say "I'm sorry." He doesn't ask how she was killed or why. He just echoes her shrug. ]

Second time's the charm.

[madamemoiselle]

[The lack of questions makes her happy, so she's back to childishly cheerful instead of dangerously on edge]

I think so too! Well, mostly. I'm happy to be here, is my point. I even get to do what I want, without people telling me what to do. I've never gotten to do that!

[designerchild]

[ Maybe that's why she decided to kill a native here...SOMEONE GIVE THIS GIRL A MORAL COMPASS. ]
