8th hunt ♟ video, text
[Even though you can't tell from the feed, Dean is sitting alone in an empty house. It's dark, most of the light coming from the screen itself, and it glints off a nearly empty bottle that he's got in one hand. His eyes are downcast, hidden from view, as he slowly rubs the bottom of the bottle against his knee. Everything is dead quiet apart from the soft swish of whisky and the brush of denim.]
Sam had more friends than me, so I'm sure lotsa you will be sad to hear he's gone...
[He takes a drink from the bottle, throat moving as he chugs for a few seconds. If you manage to catch a glimpse of his eyes from the right angle, they might look glassy.]
Cas and Daphne and Mary and John are all gone to. Think Jo went grey.

[A massive wave of self-pity is threatening to crush her at the news about her friends, but she takes a deep breath and remembers that this is Sam's brother. He's hurting much more deeply than her.]
I'm sorry, Dean. I know I'm just a kid again, but if you need anything - anything at all -

A great loss to us all. [He pauses. Arthur is in charge of the house but he's sure his response will be the same.] There is always room for a friend.
[And a friend of a friend is a friend ok. He'll give up his own bed and sleep on the couch if necessary. Still better than the conditions he had at home.]

[The next text comes a little while later, mostly because he doesn't know Lancelot and isn't sure how to reply at first.]

We got a few more Camelot folk from the latest batch of Travelers, actually. With our current numbers, it might make sense to split ourselves between the two houses.

Sorry to hear that, man. That's rough. One Winchester ain't a Winchester without the other, far as I can tell.
Dunno about your other friends, but you bring up the list of people in the city, Jo's still on it. She's around somewhere.

But he won't turn on the light when he enters the room. Dean wants his seclusion, and he can have that, surely; Lord knows Arthur understands the desire. Too often in his life has he wanted to shut himself away into dark corners and lose himself to drink, and those moments have not been rare in recent times.
The only difference is that Arthur won't let it happen, can't. He is King, he must remain stalwart at all times, immovable and absolute. It was one of the first things he was taught as a boy, and that has not changed, despite the loss of his father and his Knight and his friends and his family and his kingdom. All falls to ruin but Arthur will still stand tall.
So Dean falls and Arthur stands, knocks on the doorframe to announce his presence, but that's all the warning he'll give before sliding into the chair opposite Dean, easy, like he belongs there. King is he, and Dean is his friend, his ally; this is his domain. He owns it, as he owns all things given to his name, and taps a finger on the wood of the table as he considers Dean in silence. It's a moment before he speaks, softly, leaning back into his seat. ]
Have you been here all day?
action;
But maybe that's because he's a king, and that's probably also why he's better at keeping himself from falling into fits of drinking his sorrows away. Dean doesn't have that luxury, and after years of seeing his dad hide from his problems in whisky, Dean has learned to follow his example. There's probably also something to be said about the psychology of drinking to control something in his life when everything else is so beyond his control, but fancy book learning like that was always Sam's area of expertise.
He doesn't jump when Arthur comes in, because as silent as he is, Dean still has sharp ears even when drunk, possibly especially when he's drink. Keeping his eyes on the bottle he's moved to the table rather than looking at Arthur, he leans back to relax against the back of his chair. Maybe another day he'd be angry about being "interrupted" but right now he's too tired for angry.]
No where else to be.
