[ Jade will just be waiting near the edge of the lake, perched high in the branches of a tree that didn't exist about half an hour ago. There's a rental place for skates nearby, manned by one of the natives. He catcalls at Samantha as she walks by and Jade has to press her hand to her mouth to stifle a laugh. ]

Hi!

[samantha_grey]

[It took an effort not to punch him. It was written all over her face and she was glaring in his direction for a second before she calmed down and grunted. Walking up and trying not to look too sour, she waved over at Jade while she picked out a pair of skates.

A minute or so later, she was shaking her head and laughing, more to herself than anything, walking over to Jade.]

Oi. I am not whistle-worthy.

[ Jade is still laughing as she slides down from the high branch, landing carefully and grinning. She has a pair of her skates slung over her shoulder, too, expression visibly amused. ]

He did it to me, too. It's flattering!

[ And hilarious. ]

You, I can understand. You're pretty cute, you know. Me, I'm just not used to being looked at like that.

[She did, however, manage a little laugh while she sat down on a cleared bench and started to work on the first of the skates.]

How do you get used to it?

Um! I have no idea, I'm not used to them yet- I haven't actually been out on the ice! I was waiting for you.

[ Jade is pushing her feet into the skates as well, though, shivering a little bit. The gods had been right; it was cold. ]

I meant... heh, oh never mind. [How this girl turned into the literal ball of insane drama that she was, Samantha would never know. She seemed oblivious to people seriously hitting on her after all. Maybe it was her taste in men.

She started putting the skates on while she continued to talk.]

So, how's the recluse been lately? I haven't seen you around much.

[ It was definitely her taste in men. ]

Mostly I've just been working. It's so cold outside-- it's hard to make myself actually wanna go out.

[samantha_grey]

[Samantha had no room to talk on that one.]

Not much of a cold-weather fan for just being out and playing are you? I'm kind of glad for the cold now and again. It's a lot different from some places I know, though it does take getting used to. This is colder than I knew except the dead of winter.

[Tapping once, she tried to get to her feet and had to use a sapling by the lake for balance.]

I like it alright! I mean, I like building snowmen, but it was super warm all the time where I grew up.. I guess I'm just not used to it.

[ Sure, LOFAF was cold, but she's way more acquainted with beaches than igloos. She's having a little trouble with balance, too, briefly pinwheeling her arms as she struggles to find her equilibrium. ]

Oh my god, this is gonna be hilarious.

[samantha_grey]

Yeah. I brought a couple poultices just in case but we're going to be bruised as hell when this is done.

[She laughed, and as she tried to get her balance and start skating a little bit, her tail just whipped about in an attempt to help her balance, one that had her arms carthweeling about comically.]

[ Jade laughed in turn as she tromped toward the ice. This was a bad idea, but at least it was a fun bad idea. ]

I'll just tell everyone I beat you up.

[samantha_grey]

Hah. Well, I'm sure someone'll believe it at the very least. Let's hope we don't get too bru...GAH!

[someone was on her ass.]

[ And Jade just laughs out loud-- and goes smacking onto the ice herself. ]

Goddammit!

[ She's still laughing though, too. ]

[samantha_grey]

Oh god, let's just try not to break anything. Ourselves or the ice.

[She laughed for the moment, staying on the ice and rubbing her rump while her tail slapped about in annoyance and she shook her head.]

You know, I'd say that there's no way we could break the ice.. but my head is pretty hard.

[ She's never done this before, ice skated or just regular-skated otherwise. She scoots her feet along the ice, chuckling. ]

[samantha_grey]

And I'm the one with horns for cracking ice. Let's stick to falling on our butts shall we?

[She tried getting up to her knees, which resulted in a very slow forward motion, arms pinwheeling around while she tried to maintain balance.]

[ Jade is laughing still. She's scooting along on her skates, hand still pressed to her mouth. ]

D'you think maybe this is a godawful idea?

[samantha_grey]

Yeah, it is, but it's a damned funny one too you know.

[She laughed a little, falling a few inches and landing on her rear again before she lay down on her back on the ice.]

I'm having fun at the very least.

[nukeoleptic]

[ Jade manages to loom over Samantha, at least, grinning as she keeps her balance. Somehow. ]

Well, that's the most important part, I guess. Do you need help up?

[samantha_grey]

Yeah, let's try this slowly, alright? My tail is so not helping here.

[She reached her hands up, trying to will her tail not to attempt to trip Jade... because yes, that was the sort of thing it would do.]

[ She does her best to brace Samantha with her hands, keeping an eye on the tail-- as if she watches it really closely, it won't be able to trip her. Ha. ]

I guess we're just lucky no one is recording this.

[samantha_grey]

I'd... beat the tar out of them if they tried, heh.

[She was on her feet after a moment, bracing herself on the much smaller young woman and unsteadily standing. She gave a laugh and grinned.]

We've managed to stand... now what?

[nukeoleptic]

Um.

[ Jade glanced down at their feet, before carefully bending her knees and bobbing just a little. ]

I think this is the part where we're supposed to skate.

[samantha_grey]

Ok... well, you want to try this together or should we let go first?

[She was looking at her own knees as she asked, half turned in towards each other with the metal tines pressed lightly against each other for what she thought was balance.

It wasn't helping much.]

[ Jade's back is straight, head tilted forward. She's grinning a little. ]
