Eleventh Catch -Video-

[The video turns on and not two seconds later there is a loud crash! The video sinks down as Finnick leans down to pick up a plate he broke. He stops in mid pick up before reaching down and grabbing a particularly sharp piece of porcelain. Again, his brow furrows and he starts to speak softly to himself.]

She's not here, she's not here. She's disappeared. Please don't let any harm come to her. Please.

[He continues to whisper those things to himself, his eyes squeezing shut as he stops for a moment, thinking hard and silently, brow wrinkled, and nose scrunched up. There is a soft hiss, and he opens his eyes surprised as he drops the piece of porcelain down with another thud to the ground.

He turns his hand around, and genuinely looks puzzled as he stares at the nice cut across the palm of his hand.]

How did that happen?

[Obviously something is not right. Especially as Finnick turns and walks right into a wall, the feed cutting off afterward.]


[OOC: With Annie not around Finnick kind of goes a little goofy. Feel free to talk to him! The people who know him or his house mates are welcome to action tags just let me know.]

[ Katniss is in her room, working on a few new entries into her book. She's decided to start one like the one she has at home, the one with the sketches of plants and animals... To keep her busy. It helps her keep her mind off of Peeta, though it does remind her that he was wonderful at doing the sketches. It grounds her. The crash is uncharacteristic, however, and she drops her pen immediately. She jumps to her feet and quickly makes her way out of the room and down the stairs as fast as possible. She rounds the corner and sees Finnick, a mess, an absolute mess, and she doesn't even have to ask to know something is very, very wrong. Her eyes immediately go to the broken shards, then to his hand, which is now bleeding. ]

Finnick! Be careful - [ She rushes over to him and takes his hand in both of hers, looking at it. It's not bad, thankfully. ] -- What happened?

[When Katniss comes in and grabs his hand and looks at it. He blinks and shakes his head, a small smile on his lips. His brow his furrowed though and he shuts his eyes tightly for a small second.]

What? Sorry Katniss, I didn't catch that, could you repeat it again?

[He had been like this when he had been in district thirteen. It was never this bad though. It was because he was worried that Annie wouldn't come back at all. His mind kept flashing with horrible things, and finally he hung his head.]

Sorry.

[He reached up and touched the top of his head as he took in a shaky breath as his hand curled up causing more blood to seep from the cut on his hand.]

Sorry. I'm okay.

[But he was the farthest from that.]

I said be careful. [ She speaks more harshly this time, a deep frown settling on her features as she moves to clean and cover the wound. She looks up at his face occasionally, trying to read his thoughts, or figure him out, or something... But it's so sporadic, so unlike him, that she can't. He's not okay at all. ]

No you aren't.

This isn't surprising. This is how I felt the last time-

[He sucked in a breath and fell silent.]

The last time...Oh. That Annie was gone from me. You just don't remember that.

No, Finnick... I don't remember. Just the Arena. I only remember the Arena... [ Katniss tentatively puts her hand on his hair and tries to comfort him in some way. ] She'll be alright, Finnick...

[It takes him a while to respond.]

[She makes note of the time passage, wondering if maybe she'd said something wrong.]

Will she be alright? Leaving like that, I mean.

[He rubs at his face a few times.]

Sorry can you repeat that? Annie? Did you ask about her?

[ So this is what Finnick meant by not being able to function without his wife. ]

Hey... You need to apply pressure to your hand or it'll keep bleeding. Can you do that? Or do you need help?

[This comes after Katniss has taken care of his hand. He turns the video back on and waves his hand at the camera.]

Katniss fixed it, I'm okay.

[Well, at least for now. He's trying to be, she's not all the way gone yet. Just lost.]

[ Scott looks relieved to see Finnick's hand has been dealt with. ]

My girlfriend came back - well, she never really left. She was lost without her bracelet. Other than being confused, she was fine. If the same has happened to your wife, I think she'll be okay. [ But he can understood why Finnick would be worried. So was Scott when Allison went missing. ]

Oh, I'm glad to hear that. It's a load off when they're around isn't it. Maybe if Annie...

[He shakes his head and takes a deep breath.]

When she comes back, we can take our girls out.

Finnick? [ It doesn't take a genius to figure out who Finnick's talking about. Even someone who's only talked to him a couple times, like Allison, can guess he means his wife. ] What's going on?

Annie's lost. I can't find her, and I don't know what could be happening to her.

[He's rubbing at his forehead. His eyes are shut tightly, as if he's having trouble grasping other things. He's focusing too hard on Annie.]

It's going to be okay, Finnick. [ She doesn't know that, of course, but she has to try to keep him calm. ] When was the last time you heard from her?

A while ago. It's been hard to concentrate since then.

[ It's not difficult to figure out just who Finnick is talking about. And Uther can understand it; the loneliness of losing someone so important to you.

[His shoulders drop as he rubs at his face a few times. Shaking his head his murmurs.]

He'll hurt her if she goes back. She needs to be safe here...

[The crash in the house catches her attention and puts her on alert, like with all the Tributes. What she sees isn't what she's expecting, though.

It's not that she isn't used to Finnick's more serious side, it's that the behavior he's showing now isn't typical, even taking that into account. Rue lingers by the doorway, half hidden for a few minutes. His quiet muttering and injury is what eventually draws her out.

Rue approaches quietly, cautiously. When she's close enough, she holds out a roll of bandages taken from their stash of medical supplies.]

[He jumps as he looks to her and he gives Rue a tired smile. He reaches out with his now bandaged hand and takes the bandages though.]

Sorry I was careless.

You hurt yourself.

[Somehow she manages to sound disapproving, even though he towers over her. Now that she knows Finnick is still Finnick, she tugs at his hand to look at the cut.]

[He reaches up with his good hand and ruffles her hair. Settling himself down on the floor, he lets her look at his hand. He isn't going to try and push her away. Not Rue.]
