[That's a very ill-tempered expression this new arrival is wearing. He's got a zippo lighter in one hand, and he glares down at the dancing flame for a moment before looking back up at the camera.]

You know what's bullshit, Asgard?

[He holds his hand over the flame just long enough to leave an ugly welt, then shows his palm to the camera; although the process is slow, the blistered red skin is visibly starting to heal.]

This, right here, is bullshit. I'm not Logan. Who the hell would want to be Logan. My name is Pyro, because I manipulate fire. I don't care who these "gods" are, or what they want, or why they did it - you don't mess with a mutant's ability. Give me back what's rightfully mine, what I was born with, and maybe there won't be any trouble.

[Totally unaware that he's just made the least original first post ever, he ends his side of the feed and waits for responses.]

[He shrugs.] Hadn't heard that one. So we can add time travel to the list of cliches.

I don't know why I'm believing any of this.

I suppose you can. [She smiles, a bit amused.] And why shouldn't you? Surely if this was some delusion you'd be able to change it a bit so things weren't quite so strange.

I forgot my manners, I'm Inara... And I believe you said your name was, uh, Pyro?

I come from a place where people can trap you in their own little fantasy world forever just by thinking hard enough. And I wouldn't put it past them.

[That hesitation makes him prickle a little, and he cocks his chin upward, daring her either to mock it or to mention the John Allerdyce attacked to his post.]

Yeah, that's right.

It seems to me that whether you have been brought here by the gods or trapped here by someone from your world, you have little choice in the matter.

[Well, that's... Different. But Inara is too classy to call him out on the oddness of his name choice.]

Well, then, Pyro, despite the circumstances [AND his attitude.], it's lovely to meet you.

That sounds a lot like telling me to shut up and take it, too. I thought that was bad advice?

[His lips quirk up in amusement.] Okay, that's new. Turns out you didn't waste my time after all.

Well... [Inara pretends to think about that.] Mine probably would go more along the lines of: shut up and figure out what you want to do. See? Not completely the same.

Oh, now my day is made. [Her smile grows.] I'm not quite sure if I'll be able to contain my excitement over that.

I thought so. I couldn't decide if you were inhumanly polite, really passive-aggressive, or just sarcastic as hell with a nasty poker face.

I could tell you which of those I am but what would the fun in that be? I think I'll leave it for you to figure out over time.

[Though her eyebrows lift again.]

But I must say I think I have a rather splendid poker face.

I think I've already seen all three. You ever say what you're really thinking?

[She has to laugh at that. She's really shown him nothing.] Actually all the time. Why? Do you think I'm holding back on what I'm thinking?

I'm no psychic. I just make my guesses based on what I see and hear. And I think you hide a lot behind that pretty smile.

Perhaps I do, the same way you hide behind your anger. [She's a little surprised on how observant he is.] I'm sure we all have things we'd rather not share with everyone.

There's a lot to be angry about, where I come from. It's not about hiding, it's about survival.

Do you think you're the only one who comes from a place where life is hard? I don't believe you'll find much sympathy if you continue to snap at people the way you have. [Yes, she's been watching a little.]

You're a human, aren't you?

Yes, though I fail to see why that matters.

And that's why you'll never understand. Even if I brought you to my world, you'd just be another one of them. It's born into humans, not wanting to give up their hold on the top of the food chain.

You can say it doesn't matter now, but it would. And it still does to me, no matter where we are right now.

You're not making any sense. [Truly, does he hear himself speaking?] What would I say doesn't matter?

Human versus mutant. Just because everyone can do their little bit of god-given magic here doesn't change what they are inside, and just because you're from a different world doesn't mean you wouldn't be just the same as every other human if you came for a visit with me. So don't tell me what does and doesn't matter.

[Inara stares at him for a moment and then her expression hardens just a bit. She quite dislikes people telling her how she would feel about something.] If that's the way your world is? Then I am truly sorry. But how dare you sit there and tell me how I would behave. You don't know me, so stop assuming.

[He laughs delightedly.] Oh, how dare I. Haven't heard that one in awhile.

I dare because I know humans. I know how you all want to stay kings of your little castle forever, and you can't stand someone challenging that supremacy. I know about mob mentality, and how one bloodthirsty person turns into ten, and then a hundred, and then the whole world. I've seen it all play out plenty of times and I'm not even twenty. So don't ask me how I dare.

You dare because you know the humans of your world. And though I'm very sorry for the way you've been treated? That really doesn't mean everyone is like that. There are plenty of people who come from horrid worlds and yet, they still manage to be decent people. Perhaps you've been brought here to expand your view on things. It seems to me that it would actually be quite beneficial for you.

You can stop apologising for my world any time now. I made it out alive - I don't need anyone's pity.

And if the gods seriously want to prove me wrong about how people think of mutants, they're welcome to try. They're off to a really great start by taking away my mutant ability. That just sets the scene for goodwill.

[She shakes her head.] I highly doubt you are the only one they've taken abilities from. So perhaps you should stop feeling sorry for yourself. It really won't help you any here.

Looks like I'm the only one who cares so far. And you might want to learn to tell the difference between self-pity and anger. It's a pretty important survival tool.
