Utgard Expedition!

Ah ... hello. I was going to make this announcement just for people working at the hospital or Yakuzen Clinic, the Forensic Unit, Aladdin-kun's magic guild and Asgard's pharmacists, but then I realized that was kind of a lot of people, and I might forget someone, so this is for everyone!

Stock-taking at the hospital has been finished. As you can imagine, we are low on a lot of supplies right now. Arthur-san has offered to lead a shopping trip to Utgard to gather more supplies and Odin-sama has also endorsed the trip. All we need now are the volunteers to make the trip! We definitely need a couple more hospital representatives, and I imagine that there are plenty of people out there with either shopping lists of their own or things to do in Utgard, so please let me know if you'd like to be included in the trip or you'd like us to do some shopping! We haven't set a date yet, but we'd like to do this quickly.

Also, the guard will be providing security as we travel, so I believe Arthur-san is also looking for guard volunteers.

What do you think, Koizumi-san? It was definitely shorter that time, right?

It helps having the hospital. And -- I think I understand now. What we need to prepare for.

[Before when it was all theoretical, it was all educated guesses. Now that he's seen war firsthand, survived, and more than that, survived losing even more people ... It's hard but he feels there's not much more he can lose now. He's as ready for this as he can be.]

In many ways this battle, as awful as it was, should be looked at as a trial run for what's ahead. [He nods; they have to be prepared. If they're not prepared they will have no chance.]

Peter-san was teaching me at first, but when he left Edmund-kun took over. I'm not sure about it though -- I don't want to be in Asgard long enough that I'm big enough to use what they taught me. But -- I was thinking, maybe I should learn how to fight with body control.

I'm already going to the teacher's council. I think it's more about -- knowing how to fight. Or maybe more than that.

There is no one way to fight, there is no ultimate knowledge of it. We can teach the use of weapons, the use of your body, the use of our powers - but it comes down to experience and ingenuity and instincts. Perhaps what you're looking for is a combined training? The use of a weapon and your powers at once under duress?

Combined training? I think -- you could be right.

What weapon were you trained with so far? What are you able to do with your powers?

Peter-san got a wooden practice sword for me, but even that was a bit of a challenge. Mostly we practiced me learning how to fall.

It depends on who I'm using it against, but I think I can do anything I know how to do.

What is it you know how to do?

[He pauses to consider it. No, a sword would not suit him well at all. All serious weapons will be of little use to him.] You should play to your strengths - I would suggest you work on speed and daggers perhaps. A sword might prove as more of a hindrance than an asset.

Walk, write, pick up things. Ordinary things. Not fighting.

A dagger would be easier to use but it still sounds very ... deadly.

That is the point of a weapon.

[You don't learn to fight to knock someone and laugh it off.]

That could certainly be used for fighting, especially if you can stop your opponent. Even a second's delay could prove the difference between life and death.

[Too much to discuss with a kid? He's lived it at that age so it doesn't occur to him.]

Good, it should never be something you take lightly. But if you wish to survive, if you wish to know how to protect those you care for - you must know how to wield a weapon.
