[The video opens on a grey outdoor scene. Conan's beaming broadly at the screen. He's wearing what should be a uniform jacket on a grown man but on Conan is more like a ankle length coat. He also has a matching cap that looks like it belongs to the 1950s. The reason for this quickly becomes clear.]

I have a job! It's not a very exciting or special -- but I got one! I'm delivering things for the post office in Hel! I'm still learning my way around the city, so if you see me somewhere looking lost, help me out okay? As a thank you, I'll deliver stuff for you too!

Oh, and if you're heading outside today, make sure you've got a scarf and gloves! I think it's getting even colder out here.

A seamstress ... I'll remember! Ne, what sort of things are you making?

[She holds up a pile of very grey fabric - obviously she's only working for the locals so far, since not many other people have money yet.]

I'm just taking in a dress right now. It's weird, having all the fabric be the same colour... but that's what we're here for, right?

You think that's weird, look at this.

[Setting his courier's bag down, Conan digs though it, pulling up a newspaper. As grey as anything else in the city, the paper nonetheless has distinct words printed on it -- too bad they wisp and warp like the maids' features.]

[Stare...

... it'll settle down eventually, right?]

[Nope!]

You've got to wonder what it looks like to the people here ...

It must make sense to them, or why would it even exist? But... that's so weird.

Do you think - there's something going on we're not supposed to know?

[You could make a good detective yourself, Nakama. Conan nods.]

The library -- I heard a girl saying the books about Norse gods aren't there. And when you talk to the people in the town -- do you get the feeling they're not telling you everything?

[When it matters, she's got a very sharp mind - it doesn't always lead her to the right conclusions, but she's not blind to events around her.]

Yeah, they're just like the maids. And that's weird about the books... we don't even know where they live when they're not around here, nothing. They seem really secretive in general.

Well, I guess I know where they live! Or I will -- I'm going to have to, to take their letters!

Do you think people write the gods letters?

If they did ... they wouldn't need to come to the houses to pay respects to them, I think ...

Yeah, that's right. So maybe you won't find out after all.

I was thinking more of the people.

What do you mean?

Well, when I talk to the people here in Hel, they're happy to tell about Hel and the things here, but when you ask them about other gods, they get vague and when you ask them about getting out of here or why everything is grey, they get even vaguer.

If I go to Heimdall and ask questions, it doesn't feel like people want to talk to me so much -- and they'll tell me about Heimdall himself, and a few things like directions but not much else, you know?

You don't feel as welcome in other districts, do you? [She shivers a little, visibly.] It makes it a little hard working in Freyr, but I'll just have to get used to it. But yeah, even in Heimdall for me, they don't really say anything but the basics.

No -- it's weird, isn't it? We're all here to do the same job, but ...

I know people who got switched from one god house to another, and one of them thinks that maybe the gods are in a kind of competition. That's why we're separated... like maybe if one house does better, the colour will come back faster in their district. I don't know. But it is weird.

Huh. That's not a bad theory!

There's also the fact that putting us in smaller groups will encourage the forming of bonds more quickly, and adding a competitive element ... well, competition definitely makes people try hard!

That's true, but I still think it's better if we can get everyone working together. Competition can also lead to fights, and if we're always fighting amongst ourselves, nothing will get done.

[She's showing a little experience in leadership here, you'll notice. Also a little frustration at how hard it is to bring people together that way.]

Is that why you worked so hard on your Christmas breakfast? To bring people together?

That... was part of it. [Caught! She fights to keep from blushing, though.] It was mostly just a gift, though. Since I can't make personal gifts for people until I can afford my own sewing machine, really.

And that's why you got your job? Ne, another girl was asking me -- how did you get your job? Was it easy?

That, and I'm just used to working. I need something to fill my time.

Oh - at first they said I was too young, but the dress I was wearing when I got here was something I made, so I brought it in as a sample. They said it was good enough and hired me.

I see ... Ha, it's lucky you had something of yours with you!
