[The image is very staged, as if the teenager had rehearsed and settled himself carefully. He's sitting down, with a notebook on his lap, and he smiles at the screen with his best friendly look. He's dressed very neatly, a sweater vest with a tie visible in the picture. A very plain metal bracelet hangs on his wrist, opposite the one with the communicator bracelet on it.]

Excuse me. This is a little awkward, but I'm afraid I'm in a bit of a strange situation.

[He holds his pen above his notebook, as if he might be about to doodle to help himself think.]

I've heard that I've been here before? I don't remember, so I want to talk to anyone who has had a similar situation, or those who might have known me before. For those of you who don't, my name is Gau, I live at Sigyn House, and I would love to hear anything useful you can tell me about people coming and going this way here.

[He clears his throat, unsure how to end the video, and finally settles for a small bow toward the screen, which if anything looks awkward.]

Oh. I'm from Japan. Most recently we were working near Tokyo. Does that tell you anything or...?

Ah, I'm from Japan as well. Somewhere up north, though... have you ever heard of Yamaku?

[He stops to think about it for a moment.]

No, I don't think so. But I don't know everything, of course. It could be we're from the same world even.

[burntviolet]

I noticed that most of the japanese people I talked with are from different worlds than mine. [ Pause. ] Does yours have any sort of magic?

[teacuptarget]

Ah. I don't know if you would call it magic. There are people in my world who can do strange things...

[He pauses, unsure about saying it. But he's already said it here, and he still hasn't seen anyone from his world.]

The ones that I know are ninja.

[burntviolet]

Ninja? Like... modern ones?

[ Yep, definitely not from her boring world. ]

Mmhmm.

[He pauses for a second, gathering his thoughts.]

It's very secret though. I grew up not knowing about them, so I wouldn't think that because you didn't know, you would necessarily not be from the same world as me.

[burntviolet]

Ah... really? So it's like a normal world otherwise?

[ Secret ninjas living somewhere- for some reason she's skeptical about it. ]

Well, I suppose what you think of as normal depends on your world, doesn't it? But other than the ninja living in secret, my world is somewhat technologically focused at the moment, and fairly globalized in terms of economy and culture.

[burntviolet]

... It sounds somehow like my world. [ Especially with Japan being so advanced. She knows because she's quite technology-friendly despite her reserved predisposition. ]

It could be. The world is big, and... it's not like anyone would necessarily know me. I'm no one particularly important at home.

[burntviolet]

I'm not that... relevant, either. I just come from a private school.

It's kind of comforting, when you think about it. That we might be from the same world and not even know it.

Yes, it is. At least we know we're both japanese. There are many other japanese people here.
