[The image is very staged, as if the teenager had rehearsed and settled himself carefully. He's sitting down, with a notebook on his lap, and he smiles at the screen with his best friendly look. He's dressed very neatly, a sweater vest with a tie visible in the picture. A very plain metal bracelet hangs on his wrist, opposite the one with the communicator bracelet on it.]

Excuse me. This is a little awkward, but I'm afraid I'm in a bit of a strange situation.

[He holds his pen above his notebook, as if he might be about to doodle to help himself think.]

I've heard that I've been here before? I don't remember, so I want to talk to anyone who has had a similar situation, or those who might have known me before. For those of you who don't, my name is Gau, I live at Sigyn House, and I would love to hear anything useful you can tell me about people coming and going this way here.

[He clears his throat, unsure how to end the video, and finally settles for a small bow toward the screen, which if anything looks awkward.]

That must be kind of funny! I don't think I've had anyone confuse me for someone else, but apparently I had some close friends when I was here before.

[Pause.]

It's a little sad.

That you can't remember being friends?

Yeah. I can't imagine anything worse. I just keep thinking what it would feel like if my friends back home forgot me that way.

I've... never thought about it that way before. Maybe the people who've mistaken me feel the same...

It makes me angry at the gods, for doing such a thing to us. Though I guess I can't understand their reasons why.

It's a mystery to me, too. They can be very presumptuous, I find!

It seemed that way to me too. Though I suppose gods are always like that in the stories.

Are they really? What stories would these be?

[There's some paper rustling here, as Gau flips through his notebook.]

Well, lots of people believe in gods, at home. Or did in the past at least. These particular ones are European, so it's not really my specialty or anything, but theyr'e used a lot in works of fiction, and with some cross-referencing between different cultures you can find a lot of similarities...

Anyway, they're written about as being very petty and squabbling a lot, and a lot of the stories sound silly from a modern point of view, including a lot of explanations for things like natural disasters that we now know the science behind.

I'm not sure if that sounds silly at all! Back in Sinnoh, where I came from, there are legendary pokemon that have godlike powers over time and space itself... and I'm quite sure I've read myths of others that could control the weather and create disasters, too.

... But I suppose that isn't the case for your homeworld.

No, that's not quite how it is my world...

But I bet lots of worlds have myths of some kind, even if the heroes of them are different.

It seems so! I find it quite fascinating, as well. I've a lot of research on myths back in Sinnoh... do you study them, too?

Just as a hobby! I know bits and pieces of different ones, but I don't have the full picture. I mostly remember the stories that were interesting, or ones that I saw recreated in fiction.

Is there even such a thing as a 'full picture' when it comes to mythology?

I guess not, really. I mean, it's all so complicated, and usually confused by restated through lots of centuries.
