The Gods of Asgard do show themselves as times. Whether you accept them as Gods or not is up to you, but their existence and their powers are undeniable. As for your currency...I'm afraid it will not do you any good. But there is always coin to be had, there is no shortage of work that needs to be done.

Unless you're allergic to hugs, can't deal with random animals, are afraid of a foot of water, or are too stupid to know when to hide then it isn't a big deal. [Except for. You know. The war.]

It doesn't really matter if you believe in them or not, I guess. They don't seem to need it to pull people in like, fish in a net, or more accurately I guess abduct them and hold them hostage for poorly...explained...reasons.
